First Airstream

We made the plunge and bought our first Airstream. It's a 24' 1967 Tradewind. This particular Airstream is special to our family, my entire childhood it was parked across the alley from our backyard so we saw it every day. This past year our neighbor sold his house and could not keep his Airstream any longer and we were able to purchase it from him and do a complete restoration on it.

A little history on the trailer:

He bought it brand new in 1967 used it on one trip and parked it in his yard where it sat until April of this year. The removal was quite extensive as he had planted large avocado tree's around the trailer in 1968 and a large fence around it, All had to be removed. 8 hours later and with the help of some good friends we moved it for the first time since 1967 when it was parked there after its first and only trip and placed on jack stands.

Wow! What a find on such a rare unused trailer. And that polish job is awesome. You should be proud.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Airstreaming. Now, don't let that Airstream set for another 47 years, get out and show it off.

Couple more photos to show original condition
The first photo is from our back deck and the second photo is right before we finished pulling her out.

First Airstream

She is utterly beautiful! You should post some photos of the inside.

I need to go over to where we keep her to take some. I don't have any photos on me but the inside is 100% original from window hardware all the way to cushion fabric.

So did you already polish it? I can't imagine the floors, frame, etc don't need some serious TLC if it sat there unmaintained for that long.

Still very cool, keep us informed on the renovation!

We polished it once we finished the restoration. We got really lucky, the owner kept the trailer maintained even though he wasn't using it on the road. The floor is perfect shape as well as the frame was in excellent condition, there was some minimal rust damage to the back bumper but with a little patch and some POR it was as good as new. He even kept the electricity hooked up and running water going and would go in and flush the toilet. We replaced all of the running gear, axles, brakes, tires, running lights. other than that most of the work was replacing cosmetic things. all of the appliances are still in 100% working order.
