Excited to be here!
Hello all,
Thank you for the warm welcome.
So much information here! Great resource.
Happy Airstreaming all. I'm interested in talking with those who full time through northeast winters. Hoping to determine if full time Airstreaming is viable here in Ohio.

Hi AirStephen:
Did you say full time in an Ohio winter? Luckily Airstreams have wheels and like to travel south for the winter, like way south. Airstreams in consistently below freezing temps are a problem. You have to protect water in, and waste water out. You only have 1 1/2 inch of rather ordinary insulation between you and zero! Warm air circulation in Airstreams is not the best with the floor being cold and the ceiling being too warm. Fresh air circulation isn't good either. And I didn't mention aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat, or cold as it were.
Winter in the Airstream wouldn't be for me. I'd go south where it's warm.
Welcome to the Forums. You will get several comments from folks that actually winter in their Airstream.

Thanks David! And to the McCabe's, I wish I could spend the winter in Florida where you are…someday - living in an Airstream full time now is one of my early retirement strategies.
This site is dangerous, I just joined and already I'm spending hours reading forums.
Love both of your Airstreams

Welcome!
I live in Bend, Oregon at 4,000+ feet elevation and was interested to learn about cold weather in an AS when I acquired mine. After a lot of reading I've become pretty convinced that ideally an AS is a three season RV. There are threads on here by extraordinary folks who have taken extraordinary efforts to winter in their Airstreams in colder climes (one who wintered at the Grand Canyon) but it sounded too drastic for my level of energy.
I just parked my trailer in the Sheep Barn at the county fairgrounds yesterday where it will stay until I head out in late February. (Oddly I'm heading North at that time, but to the somewhat temperate San Juan Islands).

You know, I remember reading a thread about a fellow in Alaska who was asking about different kinds of furnaces for his Airstream so he could stay in it during the winter. Burrrr!
I'm sure you will find information in these Forums from folks who winter in their Airstreams.

There is a great and inspiring thread here somewhere from a young woman in Alaska that is living year around in an airstream and making a go of it.
After staying in my 345 last year in northern AZ I hoping to dash south into lower elevations this year when that white stuff comes down. Burr.
Can feel the cold air blowing in the drain holes of the windows etc.
I must add that I'm from Hawaii and am a weather whimp.
Good luck to the hardy souls wintering over in their streams up north.
Maybe someone can find the link to that classic thread from the hardy Alaska frontiers woman. :-)
Cheers Richard

Here is one thread I found by searching on "Alaska". But it isn't the one that discussed furnaces and water systems for winter living.
I thought the picture was worth the link.

Thank you John, Vicki, Richard, and David, greatly appreciated!
Cold weather Airstreaming seems to be not for the faint of heart, but not impossible!
