Escape from LA!
We are Bob and Lisa (Wally & Wendy to each other when traveling) and we have a 1997 Safari 25' ("Saffy" is our name for her) purchased in January from my brother who hadn't used her much at all. The plasticoat has been shedding from the top portion and so Saffy could use some polishing one day. Of course there are some other maintenance issues which are needing attention due to age and disuse, but they are being attended to little by little depending on priority - safety, utility, aesthetics. Carpet removal and new flooring will be one of our upgrades one day.
We have been living and working in an eastern suburb of sprawling Los Angeles for decades and have decided to quit. We are in our mid fifties, unencumbered by home ownership (can one really own when property taxes are forever?) or other tethers to this place. We will miss our friends and family but are more excited about our new aimless adventures than staying put.
We have two more local trips planned - Anza Borrego and Carpinteria SB - before our house-less but not homeless adventures begin in February.
We will be heading to New Orleans in a leisurely manner and will be making plans as we go after mid- February. Maybe Flying lessons in Missouri with Frank?
Airstream Forums was of GREAT help when I first was learning about our trailer and how to get her moving - thanks! The wealth of experience here is wonderful and I will be accessing it frequently no-doubt. Maybe even contributing?
From our very few camping trips so-far, we have found an amazingly friendly and welcoming sort of people who we are very happy to be able to associate with. We made more good acquaintances during this year's trips than we have in 6 years in our neighborhood!
See you out there!
