Hello from New Mexico - the Land of Enchantment. If you've never been here, put it on your list of 'must see' places. It's pretty special

As an archtect, I've always been fascinated with Airstreams. The sleek retro design is what has captured my interest for years. Recently, however, that fascination has turned into a passion and I'm planning to buy my first one sometime this year. I'm looking at the 25' Safari SS SE.

My partner and I live in Placitas NM with three demanding cats (2 Burmese and 1 Tonkinse). We're both in our early 50s, semi-retired and enjoying life. We moved here from Washington DC 3 years ago and we don't regret it at all.

We just finished building a new house. So, as soon as the financial fallout from that settles, we'll buy the trailer. We can't wait.

That's a little bit about me. I'm looking forward to the new lifestyle as an AS owner and meeting many of you on the road!

Welcome Jim!

We first fell in love with New Mexico while I was with an Architectural firm in El Paso. We camped, fished and hunted in the state for many years. We camped there again this past summer on our way to Leadville and Rocky Mountain National Park. The Land of Enchantment is a place we find to be uncrowded and indeed enchanting.

How about those TONKS? We acquired ours last winter in southern Florida and she's been such a delight. We call her our "Monkinese" because she's a cross between a monkey and a cat. She loves our dogs and they in return love her. What a trio and we wouldn't think of traveling without the three of them in tow.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Sounds like Cocoa is a typical tonk. They really are part monkey. No normal cat can do what they can. Snd guess what? They never grow out of it. Sam, our tonk is still quite a climber at 14! He does, however, have a little trouble climbing and perching on top of the doors since we moved into the new house and the doors are all 8' high.

Unfortunately, he doesn't travel well, so we'll have to get a sitter for the longer trips.

in Santa Fe. I moved here from Colorado about 16 years ago and
finally found my first Very Own Airstream last fall .. .. .. right here
on the forums! (this may be my first post, but I've been a dedicated
lurker for waaay long).

Hi Judith - It's nice to meet an airstream neighbor (and fellow designer). We've only been in NM full time for 3 years now but "commuted" from DC for 2 years before that.

I really can't wait to get the trailer. It may be a few months though. We just dropped a bunch into a new house. Actually, you can see it at www.jcarnevale.com. As a designer you may find it interesting.

Again, it's nice to meet you and I'm sure we'll cross paths in the Airstream world.

Hi Judith - Thanks, we really love the way the house turned out too. Placitas is a magical place. I'm sitting in my studio right now looking out at the mesas, the Jemez and a beautiful blue sky.

Yes - we met Pearl and Dan. Our first impression of them is that they seem like they will be great to work with. More than likely, that is where we'll get the trailer. I just can't wait to get it!!! But... in the meantime we'll enjoy the house.
