Hi All,
My wife and I (Vicki & Steve) have been looking for an AS for a long time and finally decided to just bite the bullet and order a 2007. We ordered a 28' Saffari SE/LS on 2 May. While we were waiting to take delivery from our dealer we decided to go to Jackson Center and visit the factory. We both were very impressed with the facilities and even more so with the people that we met. They made us feel right at home. The tour of the plant was great unfortunately no camers were allowed ...dange it. We inquired about our order and found out that they were scheduled to start building our AS on 28 June 2006. Unfortunately we were at the factory too early to see ours in the process. I was amazed by the fact that 60% of all Airstreams are on the road today. Astonishing since they have been building them for 75 years. We also learned. It also amazed us that it takes, on average, only 9 days to build an AS. That's a heck of a lot shorter time that it takes to restore one, but then again you don't get the satisfaction of building something yourself. Well I guess that is all for now. We look forward to meeting some of you and starting our new life as AS full timers.
