Brand new, haven't even bought our Airstream yet!

Hello! My husband and I are looking to buy our first airstream, after admiring them for years! We've had a class A before, and loved camping with it and are looking to get back into it. I'm excited to learn everything we can before making our purchase! We are looking to buy an older trailer, under 25", probably somewhere in the 70s range so I know I will have lots of questions once we find one we like.

Welcome! You will find a wealth of information here.
Take your time, look at lots of trailers, ask lots of questions and when you find "the" trailer, you will know it.

Welcome!

Lots of great advice here. One frequent suggestion is to go to a dealer's lot and visit tons of different traders. The right one will "speak" to you.

Ask anything! Good luck!

Welcome! Go to some rallies! You can see and tour different models and also get feedback from owners.

Is there an etiquette to going to the rallies? Without an airstream ourselves, is it ok to just wander and introduce ourselves? I would love to see some more of these amazing trailers! We live in Central Florida so I will have to start looking.

It is perfectly OK to just show up, wander around, introduce yourselves, etc.
You will get many guided tours of many models/floor plans this way.
Most people are eager to help motivate someone into purchasing an Airstream.

Some rallies have a specific date/time set aside for "open house".
This has a two-fold purpose:
1. Owners can see other owners' rehabs/refurbs/customizations/different models.
2. Non-owners/potential buyers can see what all the hype and excitement is all about.
I certainly don't mind giving a tour of my trailer.
Life is good.

It seems that no matter where we camp someone will ask to peek inside the trailer. Last summer I spent an entire morning giving tours. One woman said that it was the highlight of her trip because she had always wanted to see what an Airstream looked like inside. Obviously, an easily amused woman
I don't think most people mind showing off their trailers.

We went to a large rally in Bozeman, MT before buying our 23 FB and it was a great way to see all sorts of layouts and also get ideas for mods that people had done to personalize them. I warn you though - once you go, you will really have the itch to buy one!

Aluminitus is an incurable disease.
All I really work for is weekend getaways in my little silver house.

"Aluminitus is an incurable disease."
No truer words were ever spoken. I told my husband that I did not want to buy a trailer or ever camp in one. He told me to just go look at the shiny silver trailer that was for sale near us. I was hooked.

It is good when the wife contracts aluminitus as well.
My wife, so far, has not.
She does not share my passion for the shiny silver trailer.
She prefers the size and room and price of the SOB we had before.

Well, she is just plain wrong

Yeah, but...
She is still entitled to her opinion.
I don't hafta agree with her!
At least not all the time...
I've got a case of double aluminitus- I've got it bad enough for both of us...
It took me years of trouble free driving in our Nissan Pathfinder to make her understand how it is better on its worst day than our Ford Taurus was on its best day-
The same principal applies to trailers. There hasn't been enough time elapsed to make that point to her sufficiently.
