The straw that broke the Carmel's back is actually that my husband now works from home and he can literally work for anywhere. So we thought if you CAN work from anywhere WHY NOT work from anywhere...

I'm not sure i am posting correctly or in the right place, but here's my situation. I am seriously thinking about buying a 24-30 ft Airstream (a few years old). I want to take it to Myrtle Beach, SC and live in it year round. When I call campgrounds or realtors down there, I am quoted annual lease prices (for campers or travel trailors) of $4K to $6k. Then I'm told I must have underpinning and pay for electricity/utilities.

So is this approximately what I am facing, once I get my airstream and tow it to the beach? Seems like a lot of money for just parking it in a campground. Anyone have any advice for me?

Problem is, you aren't just parking it. You are making it a full time residence near the ocean in the path of hurricanes. Different rules apply as a result. Check on two or three places to shuttle between, so you are then transient and not subject to permanent residence rules.

Yes! I'm feeling that already, even though we haven't even bought one yet. I work for the weekends. We go hiking a lot, but it would be so nice to take off overnight without setting up a tent, blowing up the mattress, feeling cold, tripping to the restroom at 2am...

A trailer is the next logical step...
We are going to a rally next week and then to another campground for our granddaughter's birthday. I can't hardly wait...
