Thanks in advance for your warm welcome into the AS community.
It was July 2008, my wife and I were heading home from a week in Thunderbay Onterio. We travel with our birchwood beauty, a 1954
Empire canned ham. It was our last night on Minnesota's North Shore, we pulled into a campground on the shore of Lake Superior. Across the way from us was a vintage 63 Globe Trotter. Before we could even unhitch, John and his wife came over and introduced themselves. We spent the night talking old trailers.
I mentioned that I had been looking for a 60's single axle AS, like a Bambi, but without much luck. He said that he just happened to have one. Turns out he has a dozen or so Airstreams, Avions and Shasta's and he would sell me the trailer!
I picked up Bambi #1942 in March 2009. It had been gutted by the PO's PO. The cabinets and floor were missing, all that remained was the kitchen sink, a yellow toilet and the front dinette cushion. The body was however, in nice shape.
Lots of work this last year, body off, floor replaced, shell back on, windows rebuilt and sealed and new electrical and plumbing. Today the PEX passed the 70 psi air pressure test! Hope to start on cabinets soon and have it on the road this summer. My wife is already planning a trip to the left coast this summer.
Beaker? I taught seventh grade science for twenty years, he was my faithful lab assistant. All he ever says is eeeeeeeee!
