August Trip Planning
We are planning a week long trip from our home in LA to Santa Cruz, pick up our grandson, then head to Yosemite and the Sierras. A couple of questions;
1. Yosemite is Grand Central Station in the summer, camping in the park is a nightmare from what I've heard. (last time I was there, camped in the the climber's camp)I have looked at staying at Yosemite Pines RV Park and then daytripping into the park-thoughts?
2. So far we plan to spend 3 days at Yosemite Pines, drive over Tioga Pass to Lee Vining, Mono Lake and then what?
Any past experiences would be great, hints, suggestions, etc.
We will be pulling a 19 with our Grand Cherokee 4x4. We have a solar panel set up and don't mind being off the beatenpath.
BTW, the grandson is 9 and loves to fish. He already has a tackle box, a salt water rod and a fresh water spinning outfit. I liked the pictures of the pool at Yosemite Pines as he loves to swim, too!
I'm an old climber, backpacker and sailor so the Airstream experience is like staying at a 5 Star hotel to me.
Thnx!
