Smile Anyone from Northern Illinois?

Really. Anyone here in the Chicago area or suburbs? I'd like to say "hey" to anyone from around here. And I have my a/s at Woodhaven Lakes in Sublette. (Near Dixon and Mendota) Where do you camp locally?

We're in the northern burbs. For quick getaways, we go to places like Chain-o-lakes, Zion (only under duress), or Starved Rock.

You should plan to attend the midwest rally in June...lot of us from the "area" will be there....

Well sure! Lots of folks from your area. You should look into the Moraine View Forums Rally down near Bloomington the 2nd weekend in June. I know there was a small northern Illinois rally with a handful of Airstreams held last fall -- http://www.airforums.com/forum...ois-24120.html. It's always fun to see all the varieties of models as well as individual decors!

We're Here

Greetings. There are a number of us from Northern Illinois that hang out on the Forum. I don't think the Member Map does us justice.
Having attended the two rallys previously mentioned I can tell you they are both quality events not to be missed.
We like a private campground in Mukwanago Wis. called Country View just southwest of Milwaukee. Excellent site.
If you like a more primative site check out Marengo Ridge in McHenry Co. McHenry County Conservation District No hook-ups.

Tom.

Howdy. I was from Elgin. Locally, we loved to camp at Shabbona (http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/R1/SHABBONA.HTM)

and in Burlington, Wisconsin at Meadowlark Acres
(Meadowlark Acres - Family Campground - Homepage).

Now we live in North Central Georgia (in the mountains) and it's like camping every day we look outside (see pics)!

Well you finally got me to post my first reply. We keep our trailer at Lehmans Lakeside. We were at last years forum rally but will probably be coming back from Yellowstone during this one. We like going to the area state parks - Starved Rock, Illinois Beach, Mississippi Palisades.

See you down the road

Norm & Shar

lilmouse:

Welcome.

We keep our Airstream on our lot in Woodhaven and love both. We take our Airstream out often to attend WBCCI rallies and camp with friends. We also attended the Moraine View forum rally last year. We won't be able to make it this year.

Stop by and see us at lot 24-134. Four weeks until our trailer comes out of storage and can't wait.

Bluebird: Awesome!
In the 30 years that I have been going to woodhaven, sporatic as it may be, I still get lost in there.
I'll have to pull out a map and find you and your family.
I'm in section 11, lot 85; near the front gate. I think it's called Larchmont Trail. I forget, but I know how to get there. (From the gate, down the hill, past the association office, first left.) We have the only Airstream there, but I have found a few Argosy's similar to mine, and in silimar condition.
Put me on your buddy list if you want. I don't get to go to Woodhaven all to often, only on a Sunday here and there, weather permitting.

Hooray! Happy to meet someone in Woodhaven!

From Chicago....

Lil, Blue, etal -

Haven't lived in the Chicago area since the very early 90's, but still consider it home. After all, I did spend 30+ years there, on the South Side & in Oak Park. Life has taken me and mine many places since, but 'Home' is still Chicago.

Spent MANY summers in Michigan, just north of Petosky/ Harbor Springs. Folks had a place on the lake, LOVED it!!!!! Still go to South Haven for walks on the beach.

There are SO MANY places to camp in that region - in fact, it boggles the mind!! Enjoy that AS! Plan your trips anywhere and everywhere you ever wanted to go.... then go!!!

That is what I have done since moving to the SW. I have found that after living in the IL/MI area for 30+ years (see above), I had seen SO little of the area. A real missed opportunity! I am actively working to not have that regret when I leave the SW to other 'pastures'... To quote a marketing catch phrase - JUST DO IT!!!

PS - There are LOTS more ASer's in the Chicago area - heck I know at least another 6 or 8, but they are all very busy folks. Keep pinging this thread and you'll likely have enough folks to have a mini rally right there. Enjoy!

When visiting Chicago, I overnight in the parking lot for commercial busses, it's right behind the Chocolate factory, just a few blocks from the Chicago Tribune building.
$10.00 a night!
