Another Newbie added

Hello Everyone,
Can't believe we've finally got an A/S! We pick it up Friday. Got a good deal on a slightly used 2009 30' Classic. My TV is a 2010 Ford F150 FX4 with 3.73 gearing and 9600 # GVWR. I don't plan to max it out weight wise and thought it would be easier to upgrade the TV down the road than buying another AS
I'm active duty military ( Navy) and plan on using it full time for the next 3 yrs at MCAS Cherry Point, NC while my wife stays up here in Chesapeake Va.
Like everyone else new, I've been diligently reading as many posts as possible trying to get up to speed on everything rv'ing - a daunting task to say the least. One question I do have though is considering the TV I have with tow package, will I need a beefier hitch to pull this trailer? It seems odd to me that Ford would put a light duty hitch on a truck with 9600# tow rating.

Thank you to all...
Rob

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your question, the Ford hitch receivers have a pretty good reputation, unlike the GM receivers which are junk.

If you are going to do any significant amount of tow of the 30 footer with a half ton truck, you should seriously consider investing in a high quality weight distribution/anti sway hitch system.
