Another newbie - 1966 Caravel

Hi everyone -

My husband and I recently purchased a 1966 Caravel, which needs work (and frankly we're not exactly sure how much work yet!). We were lucky and got a really good deal, so I'm not complaining. We'll probably do most of the work ourselves (OK, my husband will be doing most of the work!). We're excited to be a part of the Airstream community and are looking forward to the day when we can use our Airstream. There's so much information on this forum, it's a little overwhelming. We want to remodel the inside and are looking for ideas. Our first project is to replace the axle, as a former owner installed a mobile home axle. Any helpful tips on navigating this helpful forum to look for ideas for our remodel is appreciated!

Best to all,

I love Caravels! We just finished up our restoration of our 67 Globe Trotter. The ideas will come to you...just get in there and start! It is a labor of love, for sure. I have some info and pics of our restoration on my my signature below. Congrats and please post pics!

Thank you enived2 for your welcome and sharing your pictures! I will definitely post some pictures. You're not too far from us - maybe we will meet one day! We love Colorado and will for sure make Colorado a destination for visits to come.

Welcome I am about to start the rebuild having already completed the tear down. Do yourself a favor and go to VTS and order the plumbing vents. They go fast. Feel free anytime if you have questions and please post your pictures. Take lots of pictures so that you can remember where it goes or how it went.
Gotta get busy! Have a great day! Now where did I put those revits?

Welcome to the forum. The "forums" tab at the top of the page is a great way to research specific "technical sections" such as running gear which will lead to axle replacement information.
