alWe have just purchased a 1997 25' Safari trailer....we will be picking it up next Sunday....We will be towing with a 1996 Suburban 1500. We're looking at the TEKONSHA P3 ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL from camping world...and ANTI SWAY HITCH PRO SERIES SC 1100 lb Weight Rating.... we would like any comments or suggestions as we're looking forward to a great experience. Also, advice on polishing products, tools, techniques, hard work, etc.

Thanks, Al Scott

Welcome.

I'm of the opinion that almost any weight disrtribution hitch is fine. All the brake controllers work, some more smoothly and effectively than others. I think yours is fine if you adjust the ramp and max effort levels properly. I always crank my ramp up a little when I'm in the city.

Nuvite is the polish of choice! Expensive but you can get the finish you want, from just nice to mirror. But you won't want to polish the aluminum for about 20 more years when the clear coat (modern Airstreams have that, right?) burns through. Until then a lot of membes use Walbernize.

Personally, before I would leap into major rehab projects I would go camping! Enjoy the unit "as is" and you will know what you have to fix, what you'd like to fix and what changes you would like to make.

If you are picking up your new trailer from any distance check with the seller aon how old the tires are. If they are more than 5 years old they make look perfect but be fairly likely to fail. We had one go on our first trip. No fun.
