Question Airstreamer Greetings

Took delivery of an Airstream Flying Cloud Trailer a month ago so we are new to Airstreamer etiquette. Last weekend, we drove from Hudson, Wisconsin to Grand Forks, North Dakota and didn't see a single Airstream. However, on the way home a few miles south of Grand Forks on I-29 we were flashed a couple of times by another Airstreamer going the other way. After the initial surprise and hesitation, we took this to be a greetings signal but we aren't sure. Is a headlight flash a typical greeting to a fellow Airstreamer while going down the road?

Congrats and welcome to the forums! Yes, the headlight flash is the official or unofficial road hand-shake of a fellow airstreamer or wanna-be!

Good luck and have fun with your new A/S!!!

Yes indeedy. Unfortunetly last summer during our northern trip from Arizona to Yellowstone we passed 11 Airstreams in the opposite lane and only one returned our blink.

Half the time I can't get my hands on the switch to return a flash signal fast enough. Just know that my intentions are good!

Welcome, Martian! And congratulations on that new Flying Cloud. We get so excited when we see another Airstream coming - just good to see another one since we are the rarity, it seems. We try to flash, but sometimes we're too busy trying to determine year, model, etc.!! Happy trails, friend. Hopefully we'll see you on the road.

P.S. Thank goodness I've never had this happen and hope I don't, but I have a very strong feeling that if we had a breakdown on the road, any Airstream which came along would probably stop to see about us! I know we would!

Flash and a wave, that's how it's done. We are a very exclusive club you know, it's kinda like a secret handshake

Great choice with the trailer, we love our Flying Cloud.
