Jean-Luc! I have spent months at a time in the area around Pezenas/Montpellier & have been amazed at how many people have studied English compared with in the past. Which is a problem because I want to practice my French but now suddenly everyone wants to practice their English.

And they are SO pleased to have tourists down there.

But even in Paris I have seldom found the French to be rude. Which is a contrast with Chicago, that's fer damn sure ...

oh right, overlander63 just reminded me.
try coming to america & see how many of us have bothered to learn french or any OTHER language.
then you can learn what "lazy" really means.

One of the women in our WBCCI club (with a 2 digit WBCCI number) said she always thought Wally Byam was crazy for attempting his caravans in Latin America because he didn't know any Spanish. Of course that is why they were recruited later to take people on caravans there, because they knew the language.

Its funny though, as you travel through Europe, people want to speak English to you. They are excited about stretching themselves to use this language they learned in school. You really had to push yourself to speak their language because its easy to be "lazy" and let them bail you out.

some pictures of my airstream are available somewhere in the photos area, I'm not sure how to manage with them...
it's been very difficult to bring the trailer close to my house; the road and the gate are so narrow....
too bad ,I needed to work on the trailer; I must change my mind and park it somewhere else...
someplace easy cause I m always on the roads
I have also a question : I m not sure of the right "date of birth" for the airstream .
can somebody help me considering that it's an excella 2 model and it's been registered as number:21485
I thought it was 1972 but it's impossible (the blue color appears in the late 70's I think)
thanks

Welcome Jean! Having visited your beautiful country on several occasions, I find myself reading your posts and once again longing to return. My stomach grumbles thinking of the wonderful food and wine. On our last visit, we found your countrymen to be most gracious and helpful, even apologetic in one case for the rudeness of one particular individual. While language barriers are often a problem in our overseas travels, we always find a way to communicate with those who wish to do the same. I cannot imagine how you comfortably navigate your Airstream on the narrow roads of France. Very carefully I would imagine. Have fun in your Airstream and keep the shiney side up! Possibly our paths will cross some day. It's a very small world.

I'm afraid I don't have what you call (I think) the vin number because the airstream had an "off body" restauration to be able to succed the french regulation... otherwise I would not be allowed to drive anytime ;anywhere
( electric brakes are not safe enough for us!!! if you keep them your have a special form indicating that you stay only in your area ,you must ask the police a special certificate to cross the country!!)
I'm going to ask for the vin number to the last owner
merci pour votre aide , à bientot

I have a small story that makes me believe we live in a very small world;
it happened in India.
I was sitting in a small tibetan restaurant in a small village somewhere in the himalayas...( five tables )
when suddenly somebody I did not see when entering;comes to me and ask me :do you think the food here will be as great as in your restaurant?
I had a shock
he was from toulouse and came several time to my restaurant...
we had a wonderful time talking in french ( you miss your country after 4 months in India)
nous sommes bien peu de chose....
I don't know how to translate that!

Literally, it means "we are well little of thing". Maybe more would be "the little things are best"?

Bienvenue a notre site internet, Jean-Luc!

airstream camping

hello everybody;as you all know;airstream trailers are hard to find down here, last week I had the chance to visit a camping ground close to the pyrenees ,on a nice spot, with .... eleven airstreams....... perry the owner is a specialist and he proposes to rent the trailers for a week or for one night;he's the only one in europe to propose that and I must say I was impressed by the choice he proposes and his kindness..
if you plan to come to europe ,you must visit him;you won't regret
have a look at the following address:http://www.belrepayre.com/
