Airstream Vacation

Hello Everyone!

My wife and I have never been RVing, and won't be retiring for a few years. But, over the next few years, we want to try staying in RVs and see if we will like it, which we think we will. We both have an interest in traveling the US.

Does anyone know of an RV park that rents RVs, especially Airstreams? We don't have a vehicle to pull one, so we want to find one set up to rent. I found a few parks, but we have a small dog (
Chihuahua), and the AS's I found won't allow pets.

We have gone to one RV show, an Airstream dealership, and plan on going to a big RV Show in Tampa in January. We have narrowed our decision to an Airstream Signiture25 or Serenity25. Anyway, if anyone knows of RV parks that has Airstreams for rent, please let me know. We live in Florida but want to travel outside of Florida.

Thanks!
Dwain

If you have found Airstreams for rent, and there are some threads here somewhere on this very subject, it might be simplest to try it out without your pup along.

Good luck.

USAdventureRV in Joliet Illinois is an Airstream dealer and rents RV's; but don't know about AS's.
There is a place in California that rents the combo of AS and tow vehicle.

The last time I checked, several KOA campgrounds have Airstreams for rent in place. You don't need a tow vehicle or anything, just make a reservation and show up.

It seems hard to find them online, however. The web site assumes you know where you want to camp so you have to enter a location to find out whether they have the Airstreams or not. A phone call is probably the best.

The Bar Harbor Maine KOA has quite a few stationary Airstreams to rent.

Sorry, I don't know the pet policy.

FYI that KOA closed on October 9 for the season, and reopens on May 11, 2018:

https://koa.com/campgrounds/bar-harbor-oceanside/

This page mentions the Airstreams, and has their Pets policy:

https://koa.com/campgrounds/bar-harb...l-information/

Dwain you could call or email them about next summer. Be forewarned however that early summer in Maine can be an intense black fly and mosquito experience . . .

Renting would be a great way of learning the Airstream/RV lifestyle. You could also inquire about Airstream rentals at the January show in Tampa. Finding one nearby for a night or two could be fun!

Cheers,

Peter

We passed Shooting Star RV Resort in Escalante, Utah a few years back. They had several Airstream’s permanently placed on site. Even if you don’t stay there, the drive on Rv. 12 is not to be missed.

Dwain,

Haydocy Airstream in Columbus, Ohio will rent AS & TV combinations: https://www.roadadventures.com/renta...railer-combos/. May be worthwhile to try out the whole towing - parking - setup and tear down process before taking the plunge to ownership.

Lots of great places to visit in this country!

Good luck with your decision!

Steve

Here is a photo of the rental Airstreams in the Bar Harbor KOA. These are the first I had seen.

The former Airstream president started a Airstream rental agency. I understood his company would tow the trailer to the location of your choice, set it up, and you get to enjoy it for the agreed time. I don't remember the name of the company. It might be an option. The doggie is likely to be a problem for rentals, because you know doggies.

Sun Roamers RV Park in Picayune, MS an Airstream for rent last time I was there, about two years ago.

According to their website (http://www.sunroamers.com/) they currently have three Avions and one Airstream for rent on-site, for daily, weekly, or monthly rates. Don't know if they allow pets in their rental trailers, but you can ask.
