airstream dream
Hello all,
I'm glad to have become a member, and ready to soak up all the good advice. I'm interested in purchasing an airstream to live in full-time and will definitely search the forum for useful info. Hopefully I'll find my dream trailer close to home here in BC Canada!
Cheers

Deedee,
I'm curious. Is there a length limit for trailers on the car ferries that travel between Vancouver Island and Washington State?
Might it be worthwhile and convenient to spend say a month camping with an Airstream along the length and breadth of the island? Do you have any favorite camping spots to recommend?

Welcome Deedee to the forum,
The search tool in the blue toolbar is very useful in looking for specific topics. If you haven't, give it a try.
Otherwise, if you have questions, etc. I suggest you post them and you will surely get responses.
There are several good threads on Considerations for buying an Airstream you might search...
Good luck! Be sure and let us know when you find your Dream!

Welcome from North Vancouver DeeDee! Check out buysell.com as well as craigslist.com regularly, as they often list at least a few Airstreams. Check the Vancouver area, as there seem to be more on the mainland than the island. I head over regularly to Ucluelet but haven't had my trailer over there yet.

Try here:
http://www.bcferries.com/
One of the members just transported a 31' on BC Ferries, so I don't think there are length issues as the BC Ferries can accommodate semis and tour buses. I've seen some pretty big motohomes and trailers board the ferries. There are a ton of great places to go on Vancouver Island. I'm partial to the West side around Tofino and Ucluelet. In fact our family has a cottage there, we like it so much. Great surfing too!

myoung, check out this site: www.cohoferry.com. This takes your from Port Angeles, WA to Vancouver Island and back. From the FAQs, it doesn't look like there's a length limit.
Happy travels!

myoung,
I'm pretty sure there are no length restrictions, at least on the BC Ferries, if you have the cash, they have the room. I don't know about the ones between Washington and BC.
Vancouver Island is so big and can be expensive to get to, therefore I think it is better to stay longer and enjoy the scenery. There are many great places to camp, Ucluelet and Tofino are favorites but VERY busy in the summer. If you don't mind a gravel road and want to see the wild BC coast check out Bamfield (my favorite!) and camp at Pacheena Beach.
