Airstream Company Rally to Alaska?

We are thinking about heading north to Alaska in 2012 and have been told that the Airstream Company has led rally's to Alaska - vs the Wally Byam Caravan Club.

Does anyone know if these rallys still exist?

Many thanks!

suepe, Welcome to the forums froma fellow Canuck. I think what you are talking about is a caravan not a rally. The company is no longer involved with the WBCCI and the caravans that the club put on are usually smaller in length nowadays.
You can look here for rallies and caravans that the club is planning in the future. They are planning an Alaska caravan in 2012.

There is also THE AIRSTREAMER"S CLUB (TAC).
The Airstreamer's Club

We are a much smaller club with no dues and a lot more fun in my opinion.

No. Once upon a time the Airstream company sponsored caravans; for example the famous Capetown to Cairo caravan was a company sponsored caravan. In later years the company let WBCCI handle it.

Airstream, Inc. held two Homecoming Rallies at the factory in Jackson Center in 2005 and 2006. These were essentially the forerunners of Alumapalooza, which is held at the factory but sponsored by Airstream Life magazine.

Wally Byam sponsored caravans to promote his product. This was a very successful idea and he got lots of publicity showing Airstreams could travel anywhere. Eventually the WBCCI was created to do this as well as rallies. This also was successful and many years ago the WBCCI grew to 30,000 or so members, but as the years passed, the club shrunk (around 5,000 today) and company sponsorship was eliminated.

As noted above, caravans and rallies are now promoted by a number of groups.
