Airstream
My Airstream has moved on to a new owner, but a friend of mine has two vintage ones he cares for lovingly. I found this in his notebook and think you might enjoy it. Share it if you like, just give him the credit for it.
AIRSTREAM by gor yaswen
Glinting rows of rivets,
gleaming silver skin,
a shining spacecraft
settled onto wheels;
a landed aerofoil
to caress winds
thru which it moves;
to nose aside this fluid
in which we live,
to leave it behind
quiet as found.
This taut-skinned,
aluminum envelope
is nude of any coat,
plain of any pretense;
a simple shape
left entire,
a clear idea
left undoubted.
Tho its fluid form
seems the shape of motion,
it's glory is to stop
in any spot of Earth
and make it home.
Aside a wild wood,
it gleams in contrast
of Man-or-Nature-made,
but without clash;
for both are pure in purpose,
and imitate nothing.
While simple without,
it is complete within;
a capsule of comfort
whereever it lands,
and grants us gift
to wake in no box,
and stare at no corners;
a room round like skies
under which we wander.
As such is this machine
testement to a century,
where we married metal to mobility
and became the new Nomads.
Here is proven
how technology provides
so simply our wants
and make possible dreams.
This creation rates our thanks,
and a name to suit it.
The name is Airstream;
what it says,
is how it does.
