About to join the world of Airstream!
Hello, if all goes well, I will be purchasing an airstream in a couple of days. I will post pictures, once it arrives. I have been looking through all the helpful posts, but, im sure there will be many questions. Lol.

Out of curiousness, does anyone know why there is no option for a 1999 excella 31' airstream, when selecting your model?

Congrats! I know how you are felling because we pick up our AS this Friday, June 5th. It is our anniversary on that day and it is our present to ourselves.
Happy trails and maybe we will meet you on the road. NC is not that far away!

Hello Airben. Welcome to the Airstream community. I didn't understand your question, can you elaborate. Maybe the 99 Excella will be your new Airstream? Airstream always has a lot of marketing gimmicks that help sell trailers. But usually there is a plethora of options for a given length.

I'm going to buy a 99 excella 31', when I joined this website, it ask you about your trailer. I put in 99 excella, but there was only an option for 30' not 31'.

Welcome! Best of luck...this site is a great site to learn new things, the basics, more advanced, etc...
Just a tip (in my opinion): use the search google custom search feature when searching the forum for best results...tons of stuff to glean.
Are you an RV newB or just to airstream?

Folks, correct me if I'm wrong. Is 1999 the first year of the new polymer Alcoa coating on the aluminum? If so, the coating will last a long time compared to the automotive clear coats. You will have to guard against filiform corrosion at the seams and rivets, but pretty easy to do. And I think of the Excella being a 31 footer. You'll have to go to the Airstream website and look it up in the specs.

I read something about a Midyear change. I looked up the VIN, and it is the newer version. Whether it's good or bad, I don't know. I'll look at airstream.com and see what I can find.

We picked up our new to us, Airstream Excella 1000. Spent our first night in it, 15 miles away, so we can properly check everything out this morning. So far do good.
I have to change mirrors on my truck and, get the Reese hitch set up.
I'll post pics, in a bit.

Very good news! That's a super Airstream, very comfortable. Happy to hear things are going well so far. One thing I like about travel trailers and Airstream is the challenge of solving this problem or that. It's much easier to stay in a motel, but there is nothing to do. In our Airstream, there is something that consumes the time. I enjoy it. And I enjoy the relative freedom we have while traveling. I can spend the night almost anywhere.
I used aftermarket mirror extensions for years. I need to see that the lane is clear so I can change lanes. Your main goal with your hitch is to restore "level vehicle" after your hitched up. Measure height at the wheel wells on level hard surface road before hitching and after hitching. Lift your weight bars to restore level. It's somewhat like trying to lift the back of your vehicle with a lever. That transfer weight to the front. And you want your Airstream level too. A slight drop in the nose is ok. But you don't want your nose high.
Congratulations. We expect photos soon.

David, thanks for the advice! We noticed that we have Goodyear marathon tires, that look to be original, 16 year old tires. After reading problems people are having, we are now sitting at a tire shop having e load tires out on. At least to get us home, I may upgrade to 16" wheels eventually. Then it's off to the RV shop to add mirrors, and get our sway bars hooked up. Finally, we will begin the voyage home.
