About to Get a Flying Toaster

Hello out there...

I'm about to buy a '06 International '22, which my girlfriend just nicknamed the 'Flying Toaster.' It only took me 2 years to take the plunge. We're using Valentis RV Legends in Waterbury, CT. Jim (sales), George (Service), and Kevin (Parts) all seem pretty good. Has anyone dealt with them?

The '22 seems the perfect size for my '05 Tundra, and I can stretch out in the bed (I'm 6'3"), which is nice. I also like the extra counter space and the desk - I'm going to be doing a lot of work on my computer. Has anyone had any particular problems with the '06 International '22?

My girlfriend and I take possession just before Thanksgiving. We plan on doing a week-long shakedown, then head off on a four month trip around the country. I own a micro-beer bar, so part of the reason for the trip is to visit some of the best breweries in America, which we'll video-tape and put on our website at blindtigeralehouse.com. People will be able to follow our trip on the travel page we'll be setting up on that site.

Since it's winter, our focus will be on the lower half of the country. Next summer and fall we'll do another trip for the breweries in upper half, maybe even Alaska if we have the time.

Maybe we'll see some of you out there...We'll be picking up growlers of beer at all the places we visit, which we'd love to pass around and get people's opinion of.

I also may have more questions about my new Airstream as I get closer to taking possession...

Dave

Welcome to the forums! Maybe if your travels down south take you as far south as the Florida panhandle you can drop in on us at the Florida Can Opener Rally the first weekend in January. We enjoy meeting new folks and sharing stories of the road.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...lly-35478.html

So far our long distance attendee is coming from Montana. We also have some other New Englanders as well so you wouldn't be alone. However, the good sites are about gone, but there are still some not bad sites still available.

that's one of the best reasons i've heard for getting an airstream and sounds like a good business expense to boot.

post pictures when you can.

Well.....two out of four of my faves (Full Sail and New Belgium) have already been covered! Check out the Anchor Steam brewery in San Francisco CA and the Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico CA, if they are not already on your list.

I really cannot think of a better excuse and method to tour the country! Enjoy your trip and your new Airstream!!!

Best of luck with your 22' International. We purchased our 25' Safari from the same dealer (RV Legends) last November and have been extremly happy with their commitment to service. Kevin is always very helpful and George will service your Airstream as though it was his.

Congratulations!

You'll love the 22' CCD, it is a perfect size and layout for a travel trailer for two, and it is also the best looking CCD. Yes, I'm prejudiced ...we have a 2005 edition. What color is your interior?

We've only had Bandit for a year, and we are still learning about all things Airstream. We did have a problem with the fresh water tank that might be particular to the 22' CCD. When filling with a hose, the water would backflow prematurely. It seemed like we were only getting 5 to 10 gallons of water in the tank. We eventually found that the problem was that the plastic filler line ran slightly uphill on its way from the outside inlet, over the wheel well and eventually down into the tank. We were able to secure the filler line with plastic tiedowns to keep the line slanting downhill, and have had no further problems.

Plan to do a thorough hand washing at least twice a year, and especially during the first two year warranty period. It's a great time to check all the rivets and look for any other changes that might become problems. I use Meguiar's NXT wash, a lamb's wool mitt, an old fashioned cotton dust mop and a sturdy step ladder. The dust mop works great for cleaning the top. (Bandit got a bath today.)

We're starting to plan a trip down the eastern seacoast to the Keys for early next year, maybe we'll see ya on the road. If not then, surely you'll make it to Vermont sometime to check out our micros. Enjoy the Airstream and the trip!
