A Wanna Be No More!!

So happy to be aboard. We sold our Safari Trek motorhome in February after 6 wonderful years of part time travel through most of the 50 states and lots of the National Parks. Wrote two blogs, hit every museum, historic site, home town parade, winery and serendipitous occasion we could find. We thought it was time to focus on the next thing. Then the summer came...we stayed home. Now New Mexico isn't exactly punishment...but the tales told by friends on the road was almost more than we could endure. We finally admitted to each other that we REALLY missed rving. My darling husband, a retired aerospace engineer, announced he wanted an AS. I began lurking on the classifieds and found exactly the one we wanted - an '08 Safari 25 ft. crosswise queen. I got a new car, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8 cylinder hemi, and we began to negotiate on the AS. We made a fast trip in the new car driving 1000 miles to St. Louis, met the MOST WONDERFUL family (I think we are now members...) and dragged the AS home. Now, we could put a motorhome between 2 twigs but failed miserably backing up the AS. We had to call a friend to back it into the spot beside the garage for us. We had a wonderful 10 day shakedown trip to Bryce Canyon NP (nothing shook...), and now are preparing to leave next week to spend some time with our one and only grandchild in New Orleans. We've named it the Rowan Express. Haven't justified the economics yet: 6 lbs. 7 oz. equals one Jeep and one AS?!?!? The kids have already told us that there's an unwritten law than Airstreams "stay in the family." Our AS came to us in spectacular condition...but it was all beige. Clean beige, but beige. It's amazing what slipcovers, pillows, and pigskin curtains can do. We'll take the table when Rowan is old enough to travel with us. So, we are happy to be a part of the AS community. Have learned so much hanging out on the forum... Nice to meet you all!
