Smile A California Newby

Hi all!
I'm very excited to join such an all-around group of "Airstreamers"! I haven't purchased one yet, but am very interested in any and all help you all can give.
I'm actually looking for anyone that mauy have a smaller trailer (Bambi, etc...) up to maybe 20' as I have a BMW X 5 3.0 V6 towing vehicle. I don't even know if this is sufficient or the full capacity (trailer length) that I can pull.

I believe the GVW of the SUV is 6,000#s.

Can anyone help me? I look forward to participating in the community!!

Good travels,
Jan

Welcome, Jan... I am not familiar enough with your vehicle to say if it's up to the task, but others will have abetter sense of it... As Moosetags says, if you can give us more information, we can do a better job of helping out! The Forums is a great place to begin your quest for aluminum...

No pressure but you have 3 + months to put this all together so you can join us at the Casini rally. We give our best advice around the campfire

Welcome to the forum. The 6,000 lb number may be the max weight of the BMW X5. What you need is the max weight of the towed vehicle. There are at least a few forum members that tow with the BMW X5, so they will be able to give you the most help.

No advice, but wanted to say welcome! This is a great place to start your hunt.

One thing that I've seen a lot of the experienced people on the forum say is that you should get the right trailer for you, and then deal with the whole towing vehicle thing. As in, if you get a smaller trailer and then discover you can't live in it, you can't always afford another trailer or to take the hit if you have to buy up and sell your first trailer, but if you get the right trailer and discover you need a different vehicle, you have more options.

Hi and welcome! I would imagine a Bambi would be a good size. I guess it depends on if you are going new or vintage? Good luck! Oh and I use to live in Carmichael.
