'71 Ambassador

Hi, just bought a 71 Ambassador (29 ft) and wondering about an owner's manual to let me know how to do the basics. I have a service manual and "The airstream Story" book. Can I get a reprint somewhere?
Also, how do awnings work on these. I don't think there is one with it.
I haven't gotten it home yet -- waiting for paperwork. It looks pretty good inside and out but it's missing the front couch. Do they ever come up for sale or do I have to see about having one made (saw plans on another site).
And, do people generally put carpeting in or have they tried other types of flooring? thanks, M

my front couch in my Overlander is going to be available in a couple of months. Maybe one out of the Sovereign, too. However, I have discovered that shipping costs for anything bigger than the maximum UPS standard box are prohibitive.

But there are a couple of threads where people have gutted their Airstreams and stored the furnishings. They have indicated they would sell/give away most, so I'd start searching the threads.

PM to JoshuaTonbo and ask about their furnishings. They made an art studio out of their shell.

Hi Margehly,

welcome to the club of 1971 Ambassador owners... Our 1971 had no front couch too... Sorry! If you want a reprint/copy of the owners manual you should contact Helen Davies (You┤ll find her Tel.No. under the faq┤s n the Airstream.com Homepage). How did you get a 1971 Service Manual?? Or is it a 1972?? I think that┤s when Airstream started the Service Manuals...

Post some pics!! We love pics!!!!

Hi Margehly,

Welcome to the world of Airstreams. My wife and I are currently fultiming in a 29' Ambassador. I was able to get a copy of the manual, and, in the name of simplicity, I scanned the whole darned thing into my computer, and then saved it as a PDF file. I'll be glad to send you a copy.
