'70 27' Overlander Restore?!?

Hi there, I've been peeking at posts for the past few months while contemplating the restoration of my Airstream... finally figured out I could just join and ask some direct questions!

I traveled cross country several times in this Airstream. Often parked up by oceans which gave it some minor pitting...

Anyhow, It has been mostly gutted and I'm pretty inspired to follow through with rebuilding her.

There are also minor dents and bends and tears in the body. Slightly bent framing where the step in front of the door once was, missing trim and a tear at the wheel well where I had a blow-out, and bent aluminum around the mounted bracket which once held an awning... All of this makes me wonder if it's necessary/smart to find someone to take a look at her before I start investing...

Can someone suggest a qualified person(s) I could trust to give it a thorough assessment?

It is currently parked about 2 1/2 hours northeast of phoenix, az by a little town called Christopher Creek. (between Payson & Heber) I could pull it somewhere as well.

Cheers!

window seals

The seal along the corners are pulling out on my small windows toward the top of the walls above the main windows.

How tricky are these seals to replace?

(tried to post a pic... wouldn't work)

My company which is 1 of our awesome grandchildren we watch while mommy works has asked me why I broke the airstream and this weekend my grandson looked at it and then me and ask (poppa what have you done) which is not bad for a 5 year old!

That's fantastic... "out of the mouths of babes"!

Well, I've been scrubbing the interior walls of my airstream while trying to wrap my brain around this project. I found videos on youtube by diy restoring an airstream almost identical to mine:

Airstream Restoration - 01-1 Introduction - YouTube

I'm thrilled and I was riveted watching atleast 2 hours of restoration... woo hoo!

I think I'll start by replacing a couple of bad windows, a missing access door, then replace window seals and screens all the way around and order missing hardware for windows as well.

I'm thinking of vintagetrailersupply.com or inland rv for new window and access door gasket. I also need to replace gasket around my vista view windows... Any advice on ordering gasket material... especially for the vista view?

Outofdoorsmart.com is a good source for parts but call Andy (inland rv) the catalog is hard to navigate also airstreamsupply.co (inland east coast). Every little step puts you closer.
