2018 Interstate New Owner - Newbie

Good day all. I have a new 2108 in the driveway. I am amazed by the product - an amazing coach. I am amazed by the Operators Manual. Frankly it is nothing more than a listing of the features. There is not a single operator's instruction in the book. I got the coach home. I coiuld not turn on the TV or start the generator. Books no help. (first problem was Inverters needed to be turned on, second problem will likely be fixed when I turn on the LP Gas shutoff - the walk around trainer told me the generator ran on the diesel like the engine). So, I am in the mode of having to discover and write a user's manual. I will be searching the past posts to get a jump on the effort, and resorting to trial and error. I am extremely disappointed in Airstream for this poor support - this does not bode well if the quality of their work and support is reflected in this poor manual.

Welcome to the AirForums. Sorry to read about your troubles.

You should have received a more-or-less complete collection of manuals about the size of a small briefcase. Look carefully and make sure it's not tucked away in a cabinet somewhere.

You should have also received a walk-through that lasted a couple of hours where the dealer explained how to use all of the key systems and demonstrated them for you— followed by you doing it all yourself while he watched and coached you.

You should have received a starter kit, that included a fresh water hose, 30amp shore power cord, an adapter so you could plug into a 15amp outlet, some RV toilet paper and RV tank treatment, a full tank of diesel and a full tank of propane, and maybe a few other incidentals.

If you didn't receive all of those, I'd turn right back around, drive back to the dealer (unless he's clear across the country, of course) and demand the manuals and walk-through that you should have gotten. If he IS clear across the country, I'd call him today and demand that he FedEx all of the missing stuff to you (except the walk-through, hard to FedEx that!).

Most of the manuals are available online, for both the Mercedes portion and the Airstream portion of your product, but it can be time-consuming to look for them especially if you don't have model numbers and serial numbers for all of the devices. (By the way, you should have gotten a list of model and serial numbers for all components, too, which you may need for any warranty work later.) Better to get everything from the dealer as you were supposed to in the first place.

In the meantime, go to Amazon.com and order the kindle book, "The Airstream Life Guide to the Airstream Interstate" by Rich Luhr.
https://www.amazon.com/Airstream-Lif...airstream+life
It's only available for Kindle, but most phones and tablets have a free Kindle reader app available. I recommend using a tablet rather than a phone, if you have one so you can see the diagrams easier.

On edit— Any Interstate owners out there within driving distance of Ormond Beach, Florida, who could arrange to meet hmason72 and give them a hand with a walk-through? It would probably be a lot better than the one the dealer didn't do.
