I just bought this unit and am really excited. I do have a few questions that you users out there will know.

I am pulling with a 96 Suburban K2500 with the 454 motor. Is this enough truck?

Should I invest in a cover for the unit. I live in the Central Valley east of San Francisco.

Any other bits of knowledge would be really appreciated. Thanks

Congratulations on your new AS. Very, very nice! Your TV should be just fine for your AS. Just make sure you have a really good hitch set-up and brake controller. You can find plenty of advise on both of these subjects here in the forum. Everyone has their own preferences so I won't bore you with mine. As for covering your AS. That is a big NO, NO! Your AS will be fine without cover. In fact a cover will cause more damage than good. The rubbing of the cover on the clear coat will soon scratch and wear the coating. I find here in New England a good washing when needed and a good waxing in the fall and the spring are all my AS needs. Welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the new coach! There is as much controversy over cloth covers as there are about hitch brands. Your tow vehicle is plenty adequate and for the other two issues, do a search (in the blue bar above) and make up your own mind. My hitch preferences are below if you want my opinion. I don't have one on the cover issue. At least not a published one. A carport or garage is nice, but very expensive. Lots of folks never have them and their Airstreams survive.

Welcome Altamont, and congratulations! You have great taste! And you're going to love your new rig. Did you get the twins or queen? Which interior? Have fun with towing-Like all Airstreams, she's a real head-turner...
Will you give her a name?

Congratulations on the new purchase. If you are interested in meeting a bunch of really nice folks, click on the Rally Discussions and check the Nor Cal Rally, April. It will be in your neck of the woods and is certain to be a good time. Ron

Thanks for all the responses. I just called a friend to tell him to remove his new cover. As for a name, Bliss might work as this is our first real trailer after a pop up (20 years) and a Jayco EXT hybrid (2 years). We finally got some class! We will probably do a rally when my schedule permits but right now we are planning a trip to Canada and the Rockies this June for 3 weeks. As we have always traveled outside of the U.S., we look forward to seeing more of the country in real comfort. We got the queen bed and will probably add the memory foam topper from our Jayco.

Thanks again. -JC-
