1st time check in

Hi,

My name is Scott. I am trying to ID a aluminum trailer I own that is on my lot in Baja Ca. I believe it's an old (50's or 60's) airstream. The folks that sold it to me (along with some buildings in baja) built a cedar structure around it. They used the trailer as a home while they were building and (once the other building were up) they used it as a kitchen. There is an old Merrittt and O'Keefe stove/oven inside. I'm trying to figure out what model it is, but (because of the structure built around it) I can't easily discern what/where the id plate is.

I've taken a few pics of the windowns and hope that will assist the process.

Hi Kevin,

I'm trying to decide what to do with this. It's cool. I dont have the resources to rennovate it at this time. There's also the fact that it's about 3 hours away at my place in baja so there may be complications with transporting it to San diego. Where do you suppose I could get more info on a) what this may be worth b) how to transport it (I assume on a flatbed, although I'm sure it's pretty heavy).

Spartans were considered top of the line back in their day and certain models are very desirable. For me a 24' Spartanette is the jewel.

As for the value? That depends on the year, model, length, condition, etc. The longer models seem to be more prevalent these days and are typically priced accordingly. A tracing of the data plate will go along way towards determining a value.

Transporting rigs on a flatbed is doable and there are companies/individuals that provide this service. It could be costly. You could tow it but a thorough fame inspection would be appropriate. I've seen cases where Spartan A-Frames buckled while under tow. At the very least you would likely need to rebuild the running gear (tires, brakes, rims possibly). The long ones can be very heavy. We have a member with a Spartanette that has a cast iron tub in it. Knowing what you have will also help determine what kind of TV would be needed. If you hire someone to haul it they'll need to know specifics, so the data plate information will be of great interest.

If its "Built-In" then you will also have the structure to contend with.
