19'CB Flying Cloud vs. 22'FB Sport for Family of (4)
Hi Y'all.
Been lurking around here for a few weeks learning and learning.
We are a <40 yrs. family of four, 2 boys, 3 and 6. We are long-time backpackers all over the world, so by default we are conditioned to pack light and spend more time outside than inside. Our TV is a '17 Honda Ridgeline (5000# capacity).
We've narrowed our search to: Sport 22FB or the Flying Cloud 19CB.
My research shows the Flying Cloud has a $10k premium (new) vs. the Sport. The justification is the ducted A/C, extra battery, the windows, some different cabinetry, and the LPG. I can't seem to get my head around the $10k premium given these features, BUT the floorplan is nice. The corner bunk and the forward dinette are nice, giving our older boy the opportunity to sleep solo (at least for a few years) in the upper bunk in the back and the younger one in the converted dinette.
I'm leaning towards the Sport 22 because of the cost savings and I'm confident that the floorplan will work for us, recognizing the slight compromise of not having separate sleeping quarters for the boys.
Any thoughts provided this info. would be very helpful in thinking this through. No need to warn us about the small size for (4). Small spaces teach us to be efficient and thoughtful about what 'things' are important.
Thank you!

Hey Nick, welcome to the forums. We also recently compared these two trailers in great detail.
There are a few more (mostly minor) features between the Flying Cloud and Sport trims in addition to the ones you mentioned. The Flying Cloud adds the rear bumper, rock guards on the front, Oceanair shades, nicer entry step, inverter, Nev-R-Lube bearings, power tongue jack, rain sensing fantastic fans, a few inches wider, etc. I'm sure I'm missing a few more.
The 22 Sport has the added feature of being able to run the fridge off the battery and is slightly easier to tow as it's not as wide.
I've rented both a 19 Flying Cloud and a 23FB International (almost the same floorplan as the 22 Sport). One thing that was nice with the 19 is the middle area is more open and makes it easier to pass another person whereas the 22/23FB have a narrower center aisle that can sometimes make movement a bit awkward.
My answer is likely a little biased as we're waiting for our 19 Flying Cloud to be delivered in August.
Ryan

Nice. Thanks for listing out those other options/ differences...the rock guard and bumper especially.
Congratulations. Funny how just reading your confidence in your decision here has me wavering on the 22B.
Renting a couple seems like a solid idea.
Take care.

ryan. Looks like your comment here made a big influence because we went with the flying cloud 19 cbb (with bunk). Once I met with a couple dealers and a couple of the salesmen, the flying cloud premium became crystal clear. We are beyond excited. thank you sir.

If you love our 19FC half as much as we love ours you won't regret your decision.

We don’t have the folding door, which I think is the new one, right?
The straight door works but it is a little awkward.
We’re going to look into replacing the straight door with the folding door at some point in the future.
