1993 Airstream Classic owner

My husband and I just bought a 1993 Airstream Classic and we are in the process of cleaning and getting it ready to be moved to Texas. The clear coat is peeling and we need to know what to use to take the rest of it off. Also we would appreciate any information that we need to know pertaining to our Airstream such as, which insurance company to use and I believe we will need to buy a new dometic refrigerator. Other than those two things, everything seems to be fine........

I know we are going to love it........... Thanks for all your help........

Congratulations on your purchase. I have heard some people use an aircraft stripper that can be applied by a paint brush also I have heard of some type of organic stripper and then hose the stripper off completely but you can do a search on the forum and will come up with other ideas I am sure. Also when you do strip the clear protect the plastic light covers and moldings and windows. The refrigerator issue if it was me and the the doors and box of the original refrigerator are in good cond. then I would have the cooling unit replaced if that is what is wrong. That is what was done to my 91 Excella. I have State Farm Insurance on my trailer but I have not needed to file a claim so I don`t know what they are like in that respect although I have never had any problems with auto claims. Hope this helps.Davis

On the insurance question, start with your current auto policy. Really easy to add and you get the benefit of multi-vehicle discounts and an integrated solution if you have an incident involving both the tow vehicle and the trailer.

Add my congrats! My Limited has the clearcoat leprosy, especially on the street side. I keep thinking it would be good to remove it but then I think of all the other stuff I need to do around my house and I push it to the back burner. When we're inside, surrounded by the immaculate decor, we can't see the ugly so we get along. Someday . . .
