1981 Excella motor home 28 ft

I bought picked up my RV from Phoenix Az on Thanksgiving 2007 after purchasing it on eBay. When we got there the RV would not turn on. go Figure. The owner had to call an RV mechanic out to get it fixed. It needed a Alternator but all the parts places we closed. Go figure so we spent the night in the RV. The next morning the alt was replaced and we were on our way with our civic in tow-on a dolly we bought on Craigslist in Phoenix as well. So we set on out trip back to Austin, Tx when the brakes we starting to have to be pumped in order to stop 13,000 plounds. Called my dad and asked him where the master cylinder would be. I look and looked through the front grill and even opened the engine compartment. Couldn't find it so I drove on. When I got to El Paso it was still snowing and good that I brought my ski clothes, I got out and looked again. Called my dad again and he suggested I go inside truck stop and ask a trucker. No one could find it. Persistent, I finally found it behind a cover that was added. Finally got it home and six years later I have done 90% of the work myself. Minus the granite countertops and polish job. It is still a work in progress. This is what my Texas Longhorn ASTailgate looks like. I will post before pics when I actually get on my home computer. Actually a guy came to me and asked if I needed it polished. He showed me pics of his work and did it for $1600 because he needed work really bad. Although I wasn't financially ready I couldn't pass up a great deal.

Just in case you were wondering I'm in the picture with my RV. So tell your wife to jump in. Its a dirty job but it's fun!!! My dad helps me when I get stuck. I had no idea had to replace the rear air bags but with my dads help we got it done. I've learned to bi-pass a lot of electrical by installing another fuse box and adding toggle switches. I will send pics later.

$1600 ?????? Boy you got the deal of a life time!!

Felicia does jump in and help when I need extra hands. Right now I am in the very slow methodical process of doing everything that no one will ever see. Breaker panel, sub-floors, plumbing, etc. Which Felicia and I have both come to the conclusion, that she does not have the patience for the mundane. However, she is a great parts and suppl person!

Love the theme you chose as well, especially the front grill. We are trying to figure out our "theme" or style that we would like.

As far as your Dad helping you out, that is great. We rely on our fellow forum members for advice. There are a few of us that are redoing right now and a few that have been there and done that, so it all works

So Welcome to the forums! Check out the Classic motor home section. There is a "sticky" with great info on parts, service manuals, etc.

Looking forward to seeing more of you work and work a rounds!
