1975 Airstream Stepvan/ Delivery Truck?
Hello all! I just picked up a stepvan delivery truck which has a VIN plate stating it was manufactured by airstream. Had a heck of a time with the insurance company as they did not have a listing for an airstream delivery truck or stepvan. Was wondering if anybody else out there has one of these, and if they are plentyful or a rare vehicle. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I am having some difficulty finding parts.....thanks!

How about a picture of it, and a picture of the data plate with the Airstream name on it?

When I visited the plant back in the 70's they were making UPS style delivery trucks. I have no idea how many or how long they did that.
I would expect that Ford or Chev. was the supplier of the running gear

Yeah, it's definitely chevy or GMC as the motor is a GM 350. And. It does look like a. UPS delivery truck. I'll try to post a pic.

I wonder if you completed the inside as a camper if it would be accepted at a WBCCI rally?

Pictures, please.
Is it square like a bread truck or potato chip truck?
Somehow I thought it might look like an Airstream motor home.

It is called an A Van, and was a short-lived attempt to enter the local delivery type vehicle market.

So- it looked just like the GM Step Van or a Grumman or a Utilimaster? It didn't have the iconic aerodynamic shape?

I have tried several times to post a picture of the truck. for some reason, it will not allow me to post it. Mistral Blue's post earlier is the exact specs on the truck. This one seems to be longer in the back as the measurement from the rear wheel to rear bumper is about 7 feet estimated. I'll keep trying to post a picture for all to see. But it does look like an old bread or chip delivery truck. thanks all…..

Correct. Looks like there is now a photo of the boxy A-Van.

I have actually seen one of those, but didn't realize what I had seen. The front grill is the only thing different from a Step Van or Grumman. Airstream has some weird history. That is never mentioned in "Wanderlust: Airstream at 75".

My eyes are weakening but it looks like your serial # is: A16D6157CJ123(?) which, translated, says you have an A-van; load area = 16'; D body code; model year = 1976 (even though manufacture year says 12/29/75); chassis wheel base = 157"; C = Chevy chassis; J = manufactured in Jackson Center; 123 = the 123rd 1976 A-Van.
24' overall length, 738 cubic feet of capacity.

This is the previous owners yearly tags for the stepvan. It is titled as a 1975, although the VIN numbers would make it a 1976. I'm not sure why it qualifies for a 1975, unless, like my other early vehicles, the year model for earlier vehicles ended on Dec 31st, and not september, like newer vehicles. Anybody have some insight on this? I am quite confused myself....
