Welcome to the forums.

Service manuals started in the 70's, but you can get an owners manual from Airstream for your trailer, they are $30.

Several different companies made awnings for Airstream trailers over the years. Do you know which brand it is? A picture would help if you are not sure.

A 68 Safari was our first trailer that we no longer have. I have the owners manual still. If you are interested I will save you some money from buying it from Airstream.

Welcome to the forums.

Hi Gary and Karen and congratulations on your new Airstream!

You have the corning glass windows that are very unique to just a few years of the Airstreams. Be sure to check the rubber gaskets and, if they need replacing, contact Andy at Inland RV. They have the replacement ones. There are also posts on how to seal these very special windows so that they don't leak. If you can't find the post send me a seperate email and I can get them to you. Be sure to clean and oil the mechanism that pushes the windows out. If you are missing any clips on the windows, you can get them from Inland RV also.

Also, read as much as you can about the axles and possible replacement. You don't want to mess around with a borderline or bad axle. The $$ spent on upgrading to a new one are definitely worth it.

Welcome aboard.....ask lot's of questions.....have fun

Welcome aboard

We have a 1968 Ambassador that is being redone as we speak. The floor under our bathroom was rotten and we need new axles for sure......are going to use hydraulic brakes. I sure like the windows in the 68s. Do you have any photos? You are going to love your new old Airstream. Thanks, pj

Gary and Nancy,

If you are able to make it to the Branson rally there will be several of us who can assist you with your awning.

Congratulations, Gary and Karen! As you already know, AS enthusiasm runs rampant here! You're in good company to figure out everything there is to know about your new baby... Now the fun begins! Let us know what kind of awnings you have. Someone will be able to help you out with that.
