Wink 1957 Airtream Overlander Newbie

Purchased my first Airstream, a 1957 Overlander this summer. I have her gutted (saved the interior wood, lighting and cabinets) and am getting ready to restore. I'm not trying to stay original, but more interested in Eco friendly design. Looking for some windows, and any feedback available. Thanks! Kim

Finally a '57!

I was starting to think that Airstream didn't build any that year. With all the '53s and '59s and '56s, you are the first '57 I remember seeing here.

Wish I could help with the windows. I think Airstream used a variety of windows from year to year back them.

Welcome

I'm working on a 56 and would be interested in what you have in mind for eco friendly interior.

You might consider starting a blog to track your progress. Serveral people are and it's good reading to see what others are doing.

Just saw your message regarding your 57 Overlander. We purchased one from its 2nd owner last fall, and have started to get it in shape. How is your coming? We are very interested in your experience.

blogging vs. forums

I post to my blog regularly and only seldom to the forums. I have updates there now.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your '57 Airstream purchase. To get started on ideas, another place to look is in the Overlander section of this forum. We would all love to see photos of your beauty! Good luck and let us know how you make out!

I am just getting MY 1957 Custom Overlander too-she's in pretty decent shape for such an old girl. I can't wait to get started on her renovations! I will be keeping the original cabinetry and lights as well, but will need to install a few things as they are missing, would like to keep as close to original design as possible. I'd appreciate any help or advice too! Looking forward to making some Airstreamer friends from across the country!
