Welcome Donna & Jack ~

A big warm welcome to you both. Post the serial number and we'll help you figure out what you've got.

Posting pictures isn't really all that involved of a task. I'll walk you through it. When adding a post, go to the 'Go Advanced' button and you'll get a new window which still shows text you've typed plus you'll have additional options available too. Go to the second window down with the button 'Manage Attachments.' Click on this and add your photos in any of the photo formats posted. Personally, I use .pdf for all of my photos. They'll need to be no larger than 1600 pixels either in length or height and cannot exceed 1mb in file size.

Get some pictures posted so we can all share in your excitement.

Brad

Diona,

Welcome in. Tons of info here among the members so ask all your questions.

If you post the serial number someone will tell you all about your new trailer. By the way if you don't want it I'll come right over and haul it away for you.

welcome aboard!

by the number you gave, 22T-0256 it may be a a 1959 flying cloud. one of our forum members has compiled a list of flying clouds and this is from his list;

1957 - 8111, 8132, 8196, 8208, 8241, 8307, O3448
1958 - O3517, 8417, 8477, 22-8532, 22-8593, 22-8604
1959 22D-0186, 22-T0198, 22-T0210
1960 -
1961 22-TS0570, 22SS0604, 22-TSS0617

i don't know what the last number is for the '59, on the list above the last shows 210 and yours is 256.

here's another reference;

59FC

You don't want that trailer... trust me it is a pile of junk. I will do you a favor and drive cross country and get it out of there so you don't have to look at it...
Okay, now for the real post: Welcome, congrates, and I am so envious. Given, given a flying cloud... be careful, those flying clouds have a way of changing peoples lives forever... how about one photo... You might also want to dig a little deeper though as to "what" it needs. I have found that it takes a while to find the real problems that are hiding under and behind.

Sometimes you might think that everything is fine and then you see that drip, drip ,drip. and you follow it down, and then you find out there is life under the tiles behind the vanity. And then you look even deeper and find some more... sorry that has been my life lately..

I wouldn't have to drive clear across country but thought I should wait until after my first post so as not to distract from my welcome. Surely, they've found most of the problems by now and are just waiting for some poor sap to come along and take it off their hands.

It was a gift and was being used for goat hearders so it is in good shape just needed to be cleaned and electric needs to be checked out. They cut lines to everything, We were only going to use it as storage but it is really in good shape, maybe good for close and quick trips. Will post photo's when I can figure how to cut down or do a web site. I took all before ones. Donna & Jack

Dionna,

It appears you are listing two different serial numbers here. 22T-0256 I believe would be from a 1959 model while 8326 would be the correct number for a 1957. Does that number appear on a stamped plate by the front door or on the title?

Would that be a big number up on the forehead of the trailer? If so, that's a WBCCI Club membership number...not a VIN or Serial number.

My guess w/o pics or additional infomation is a 1959 , California-built, Flying Cloud with twin beds, based on the "22T-0256" number - which is VIN/Serial number format. It should be stamped in the upper right field on a plaque beside the front door that looks like this:

i must say, i'm sad to say it sounds like it will utlimately be use for storage. you could sell it for anywhere between $1500 to $3000. i'd prefer to see another flying cloud back on the road.

with that said, if you are going to use it, even for short trips, you're going to need new axle, brakes, and tires at the very least. the frame needs to be inspected too as i'm sure it will need some attention as will the subfloor. it's rare you can find an 50's vintage trailer that has had no upgrades or recent work done ready for road travel.

this trailer needs to be safe for road travel, it doesn't matter if it's 10 miles or 10,000.

please post pics, we're curious even though we've seen a bunch of flying clouds, we haven't seen yours yet

dates to shoot for

We are having a rally in Temecula January 18-21 if you can get some systems working. We are very near the restrooms and if you brought an electric space heater you could use an extension cord from the hookups if yours is not working yet. Good luck and have fun! We are also going to San Clemente state beach the beginning of Feb. Debbie
