This is the last one, hopefully.

Found this '08 34' S/O parked on a ranch in California since new, and negotiated a deal. Other than some sun damage on the plastic parts, it's in really nice shape.

Our '10 31' Classic Limited will soon be for sale. Watch for the add in the classifieds.

Welcome to the Alumaliner

Congrats Steve on the 34, you will love it. Never have owned a trailer with a slide but they really open things up inside, especially on a widebody.

Smooth sailing.

John

Hey Congrats, that is one bueatiful 34. Have you noticed maneuvering/towing between the two. We wanted a 34 but went with the 30fter, the 34 scared my wife (and me to). But man are they cool.

My hubby was concerned about towing a 34' but says it pulls easier and handles better than our previous 31' Classic. He loves U-turns!!

That sure is a super fine trailer.
Excellent choice for the "last one".
Maybe someday I can get my "last one".
I particularly like some aspects of the layout 34 versus the 30 like the placement of the microwave. I hate where the microwave is in my 30.
More closet space is good, too.

Thanks, and we really like it so far (Just been cleaning and putting our stuff in it), and it does have lots more storage space than the 31'.

Towing is a little different, but not much. I've towed single axle, lots of tandems, and now a triple axle. The single is easier to tow in that it takes less power to move it, the tandem is a little more stable, and the 34' is even more stable, but a little heavier. However the Cummins Diesel really doesn't know the difference in the weight.

Bringing it back from California, I did notice the wind "wave" from passing trucks effecting the 34 a little more than the 31, probably because it is longer, but it's a very small difference.

When I was very young, my Dad once told me, "If you're going to pull a trailer, it might as well be 40 foot long because there's not that much difference". I didn't believe him at the time.

The longer I live, the smarter my Dad becomes.

Saw a westbound 34' pulled by a Dodge at IH-10 MM99 on Saturday afternoon as I was caught in a miles-long back up in the opposite direction. The truck made me think of you, but figured it a fluke as the TT was "wrong". As I was attempting an end run around "Winter Storm Boreas" I also wondered at anyone heading towards it, but yanking a 34' A/S beat towing some trailers I saw that day heading towards El Paso. Negotiating the ice the next morning I REALLY wondered at some folks as TXDOT and NMDOT closed a 300' mile secton of the Interstate from Ft. Stockton to Las Cruces just after I'd made the last 99-miles of it headed back for Houston out of Moab, UT on an oilfield run.

Some how the previous post got sent before i finished with it. The rear license plate is mounted in a recessed plastic box and the factory only caulked the top edge and it stuck out about 1/4 inches at the bottom and allowed blowing rain to enter. Also the sun had dried the gaskets on the rear pano windows and water was seeping through the gaskets. The combination of these two problems resulted in a rotted section of about 20 inches of our rear floor. That was not enjoyable to repair.

Thanks Morgan Guy, I'll check those areas even though we do not have the rear pano windows.

Since this thread was brought up again, I'll say we have really enjoyed the trailer in the last year, and have had it from home to Key West, and then out to Oregon, and then to Colorado. Also numerous local club rallies. In excess of 10,000 miles. Had one tire separate and blow in Idaho causing a couple of grand of damage, but our insurance took care of it. It is now equipped with 16" Michelins instead of the 16" BF Goodrich LT's.

Since we got the trailer I have replaced the air conditioner covers, the skylights, the slide awning fabric, and all of the plastic chrome molding. Also had the Actibrake actuator fail, replaced it with a Dexter, had it fail, and Dexter replaced it under warranty. Not to thrilled with the reliability of the electric over hydraulic brake systems.

Here's a couple of pics y'all have probably already seen, but anyway, the first is camped near Key West, and the second on top of Spring Creek Pass, Colorado.

One might look at the Tuson ActuLink ACT1600 pump and DirecLink NE OBDII based brake controller on the next go around. I liked the separate electronics control module on the Titan Brakerite II SD and carry a spare module. We found out after the installation that the truck built in brake controller was incompatible with Titan hydraulic disc brake pumps and after lots of research installed the Tuson DirecLink NE brake controller.

DirecLink NE Brake Controller - DirecLink.com

We were easily able to bypass the Dodge factory trailer brake system with simple wiring changes and the factory brake system is perfectly happy and not throwing error codes even if I move the manual brake application slide switch. The trailer is just not there as far as the truck system is concerned.

This wiring change would also allow the Tekonsha P3 system to work as well, but I preferred the ODBII based system to the pendulum based system in the P3.

We had the display screen die on the first DirecLink NE brake controller, but it was still fully operational. They sent me a replacement via FedEx.

When the Titan pump quits, I am strongly considering switching to the Tuson ActuLink ACT-ABS-300 system which requires replacing the disc brake assembly at the ends of each axle.

Standard Actulink: ActuLink Brake Actuator - DirecLink.com
