Spring lifts missing on streetside galley roof lockers - 2010 Classic

For some time I've noticed that the roof locker doors on the street side (over the dinette) don't open or close as securely as the curbside ones. After the importance of this was raised above the subconscious level by a falling cereal box early one morning I looked and observed that there is only one spring plunger device holding the locker doors open and shut, for each door.

On the curb side there are two. The doors are the same size.

Brought this to the attention of the dealer who spoke with the Mother Ship. Mother Ship says that it's supposed to be that way and if I want two per door that's fine with them but they're not going to foot the bill.

Jammer,
If you think you were shorted on parts you can go to the Airstream web site and download the Parts Manual for your model and see if you got all the parts on your trailer.
Have you left your trailer at a stealership for any length of time?
The reason I mentioned about the dealership is because years ago I had one steal the control board out of my air conditioner while it was in the shop for other warranty work. You never know who needs a spare part or two!

Hi, my Safari has hinges with springs on them for holding the overhead storage doors open and closed; All of them have springs on both sides. I don't see any reason for not having them on all of the doors, especially when they are the same size. On the other hand, Airstream put a storage door above my refrigerator, that opens upward; I had to hold it up with my head to get my coffee maker or toaster out. I installed my own lifts.

I can't find them and would sure like to dowload one for my trailer.

regards,

Ken.

All of my overhead storage compartments in my 2002 ASCL, 5 in kitchen/living area and 4 in bedroom, came from the factory with only 1 each spring closure. When I visited the factory a couple of years after delivery I just purchased 9 each and installed them myself.

parts manual (parts book library/year) here...

Airstream, Inc :: Travel Trailer Manuals
_________

the 'spring loaded door supports' used on the overhead lockers are junk.

i also added a 2nd support to all the overhead lockers (~10)

and carry a few spares since they SAG/lose spring tension over time.

counting table legs that also use these spring struts my unit has 24 of these things...

and they are still junk hardware.

cheers

Thanks to both of you. I knew where they were all the time.
I just didn't know what they were.

I had glanced at that page before and though they were manual reprints.
I am a very fast reader. Its my comprehension that sux.

Regards,

Ken
