If your trailer has the same controller as mine it is mounted on the curbside wall under the sofa arm. The wiring connects with spade log terminals and are prone to come off. Check to make sure they are all attached. One of mine came off, touched another lug, and blew a resistor in the controller. It was part of a current sensing circuit that turned off the motor if too much current was drawn. I replaced it with a piece of wire, managed to figure out what it was and ordered some. I have yet to install one to replace the wire.

I said curbside; I meant roadside. To be clear, I am talking about a control module surface mounted on the wall, not the control switch.

loft47,

Any update? Your experience and hopefully simple solution is how the forum learns when we can't work on it.

An Alternative?

This link is to a product similar to what I found next to my control module. The performance parameters for the linked item are not a match, but the resettable fuse concept is valid. I have never had to reset the fuse on my unit in twelve plus years of regular use.

I suspect the first owner replaced the thermal fuse during the two years he owned my unit - maybe, right after the warranty ran out

I had the identical problem on my 2007. The slide locks would deploy and retract but the slide out motor would not turn on. Inside each of the lock arm compartments is a microswitch that is closed when the arm is fully retracted. Both must be fully retracted to supply current to the slide motor. I removed the "mouse fur" cover from the cover above the forward dinette seat. I then removed at least a dozen screws from the metal plate. This exposes the microswitch. One wire had come loose from the switch. I put a new connector on the wire, pushed it onto the switch, and now it works fine. Airstream furnished wiring diagrams of the entire slide out system and it was marginally helpful even though I can read a wiring diagram. Check this out before you get into the thermal fuses.

Jwgreen,

Very good info. IIRC one time I tried the slide but the lock was not fully retracted. No slide. Ran lock arms once more seated and worked.

Any chance you still have that wiring diagram? I bet we have a couple guys here that might be able to make a Slide Out Wiring Diagram, for dummies. Remember those how it works books?

Interesting! My slide is wired direct to a thermal breaker in the 12 distribution panel.

Thermal fuse (was NOT the problem)

Solution; Just got the rig back from repair shop, all ok now. They traced the power through the entire system, all ok, until they tested the power line to the slide motor. That wire was defective in the section that runs under the floor above belly pan. Chose the simplest fix, replaced that section of wire, now runs as designed.

Sorry it wasn’t simpler but I’m printing that schematic and saving it.

Drawing lacks details of the locking arms and interlock to its micro switches. It just shows a 10ga wire going to the SWITCH/CONTROLLER.

Need next page I guess.

We are joining the group. Give us a number. Have a 2007 30 ft classic Limited 75th anniversary with slide. The slide just stopped working 3 days ago and was able to get it in. I saw a thread about problems of this nature so hopefully one of them will work for us also!

Slide Out Society Owners Registry

Hi David and Mary!

Welcome to the forum and welcome to our little Slider group. Sorry to hear your having issues, but with all the fun comes a little maintenance at times.

Be interesting to hear what the specific issue is and what you did to overcome it so far. Lot's of experienced owners on here ready to offer advice and knowledge to help.

Just wanted to say a quick "hello" and welcome. We'll let Gary S/OS #001 do the official number thing and let the discussion of repairs work through the thread.

All the best!

I registered last year, # 51, but all the electric sites are not available on NC reservations. How do I get an electric site?

Hi Wayne,

Just replied with the Reserve America site link on the Slider page, but now after reading you question here I think I understand... I just looked at the RA site and it looks as though all the Electric sites are taken...

I have a site reserved. I may not be able to attend, but I won't know for a month or so. If I decide I can't come I will post on here and coordinate my cancellation with someone who wants the site.

Slide-Out Society - Updated Member List

Welcome aboard David and Mary S/OS #102

We're glad to have you with us!

We picked up a couple of inches of snow with yesterday's storm, but there's a warming trend heading into this new week. That should shrink up some of this snow pack we've got.

Here's an updated Member List and our Model Count.

'09 at RV Baton Rouge

Sale Pending.
What a beauty! This is one of the very last one made. Asking $60k which is a fair price from what I have seen over the past few years. Can't wait to get ours home again and get going! I hope who ever buys the '09 registers it with us. Maybe someone in the group from that area could let the dealer know that we exist and they could tell the new owners about us.
Come on spring!
