Thanks Steve,

These sorts of life skills take years to fully develop. But, I give them away freely to anyone willing to learn.

Best of luck!

That's a good one, at least no sparks. I'll take a look and see if I can see the MS's or if I need visionary powers to spot them.

Sleuthing for sliders

If you watch the British detectives on TV (Lewis, Frost, Morse etc) they seem think better on beer, though personally I have never found it that helpful.
But as I read your fascinating tale I was thinking "I bet there's a cut-out switch somewhere" - thinking of troubles I have had with small engines, ride-on mowers etc. Thanks for sharing your experience, I hope I never have to use the insight gained and that if I do ever face that problem that I will be able to remember the solution!

Actually, I do my best thinking on iowaska.
But, the old lady threatened to take away all my duct tape if I didn't quit.
So.....She wins again.

pappy,
The year on this rig is a little confusing. All the documentation and pink say it's a 2008. But the ID plate on the frame says it was made in late 2007. So not really sure how to answer that question.

But I think the reason the connections on the switch got so corroded is that, before I parked it, I was living in it for about a year while work was being done on the house. The slide was out almost that whole time and we got a lot of rain. I did happen to see that the seal on the wings did not keep water from getting in the pockets that house the jack screws. So, I think that was the problem.

Hi Gary,

I can take some pics this weekend. You donít need to disassemble anything to see the micro-switch however.

All you need to do is have the slide all the way to the ďINĒ position. Then put the locks in the ďOUTĒ position. Now, you can use a small MagLight to aluminate the workings inside the locking wing housing. Stand so youíre looking at the side of the slide-out and into the opening of the lock.

Look in the opening, down and to the opposite side of the trailer (twords the slide-out entrance). You will see the switch with two green wires connected. Iíll try and take some photos.

Thanks
Steve

What's in a date?

Ohhhh. Finally a question I think I can answer! (microswitches...huh?). Airstream runs it's model year like the automakers. They switch over to the next year's model early in July. So anything made after that date has the next year's model year design. Our 30' Classic S/O was made in early July, 2005 but is a 2006 model...so we get the 75 year medallion.

So Silverbeast has a 2008 model manufactured late in 2007.

May your slide always line up.

2007 Classic 30 S/O

Got it last June from a former WBCCI Officer. The AS was already heavily modified inside with recliners so we completed the modifications with turning the dinette into an office. We've been traveling full time since last fall, but we've been full time in an RV since 2014.

Mike & Sarah,

Well how about that! Again excellent tastes in model, year etc. Uh that means we have the same one.

RV'ng since 2014 and full time, not rookies except for the extra buttons to push the lock button and then run the slide out, makes me tired just thinking about it.

Well enjoy and safe travels.

Oh yeah something about a number comes to mind. Yup Tom keeps the file and with a nod to the Lone Star State Mike & Sarah and a 2007 you are S/OS#105.

Welcome and congrats.
