Replacing Dinette Leg with Collapsible Pedestal

One of the things I don't like about our Classic is the heavy dinette table. Swinging it down is not too bad but swinging it back up can be a back breaker.

I was looking on the Colonial website a a FC 30FB Bunk and its side dinette has a large pedestal. I was wondering if that type of table pedestal could be used for our heavy hickory dinette table top.

I'd really like to have the table fit between the dinette seats but I think the storage door of the street side would allow a support bracket to be mounted to allow the table to fit flush. I'd have to cut down the door and build a lip for the support bracket.

What do you think?

Kelvin
