Post Photos of Airstream Bikerack on a Classic

We are looking at bikes this weekend but I need to think about the Airstream bike rack.

When I look at the back of my 2008 Airstream Class 25 the vertical rivet lines from the bumper up to the rear window are intercepted by the inboard edge of the tail light assemblies. Looking at the photo at the Airstream site showing the bike rack mounted on the back of a Classic shows the light assembly on that Airstream is just outboard of the rivet line and the bike rack brackets are mounted inboard of the tail lights. With my Airstream's tail light housings covering the rivet line mounting the brackets would be on bare aluminum with not framing to support the bracket.

Those of you who have installed the Airstream Fiamma bike rack on your Classic model, can you post some photos of your bike rack so I can see how the brackets are installed?

The photo shows the rear of my 2008 Classic. My taillights are mounted higher than the Classic shown this photo on this link
https://store.airstream.com/product_...roducts_id=641

I'm thinking I would have to lower the brackets a few inches to where they would be secured just underneath the tail light housings so I can hit the frame.

Thanks

Kelvin

Airstream emailed me and said the brackets could be installed just under the tail light housing on the rivet line.

I would still like to see some photos of a similar Classic with the Fiamma rack mounted. Also post photos of the bumper mounts.

Thanks

Kelvin

KJRitchie, the picture of your AS appears to be hooked up to an Escalade. We are considering purchasing an AS and can find very little information on Escalades as a TV, which we intend to start out with. Would you, or anyone else who has used or is using an Escalade as a TV, be willing to communicate with me about your experience and what we should expect and look out for? Thanks.

I had a Fiamma bike rack on my '12 28' Intl CCD. I elected to NOT put one on my '15 Classic for several reasons. I was not impressed with the quality of "pot metal" cast parts on the Fiamma. One of the brackets broke, cost $56 to replace. More importantly though, was the inability to conveniently access the trailer trunk. I cannot imagine what it would be like to thread the 50amp "Anaconda" cord up, around, and through the Fiamma to stow it. Much less the water hose and other paraphernalia that are part of hook-up/tear down. I didn't much like the look of it either. So, now I have two very cool fold-up bikes that I stow either in my truck, or if that's full, in the trailer. (They are stowed in very cool heavy nylon bags.)
