Day/Night Shades in '06 Classic Ltd

I have tolerated these shades for years - but they are finally driving me crazy. Why are the night shades made like cardboard? To lift the shade I have to hold each pleat as I am raising it, or the shade just bends. The day shades work fine.

I wonder if anyone else has this issue with the shades. Has anyone replaced the shades because of this problem? Our prior unit, an 02 Classic, did not have the same material for the night shades.

Thanks,

We have day/night shades in our 06 Interstate, and have not had this problem.

We did have ours replaced at JC a year or so ago, after a failed attempt at cleaning them. Now, we vacuum them more often and won't make that mistake again.

I feel your pain. We also have a 2006 Classic (31) and have the same problem with the nite shades. We have friends that have a Cameo 5th wheel and their day/nite shades are really nice- they are made of a material with a pattern on it and never have a problem with going up and down. I will likely put up with what I have until it breaks, which feels like anytime you try to muck about with them....seems like they could have done better for the money of an airstream, but it won't make me trade my Classic in...

I guess the material changed as my 2002 ASCL 31' has not given me a problem. When I'm not using the AS I do raise the shades so as to keep them compressed since they do tend to gravity stretch when left down for extended periods.
