Damaged 2010 Classic 31' on EBay

I'm not interested in buying this trailer, but:

I am wondering if anyone knows what happen to it.

I can think of a few scenarios, but would be interested in hearing from anyone that knows the story.

Also would like to hear any theories.

Apart from the damage the trailer looks new.

Don't know the story, but they got all corners save one. Bet it was quite a ride.

My guess? Vandalism.

It didn't roll, or there would be marks over more of it.

There's a lengthwise crease on the road side. The hit in the roadside rear corner looks separate. The hit in the curbside front appears to be from the tow vehicle.

I would conclude that it started to sway, was grazed by an oncoming car, sway got worse, and then was hit by a second oncoming car more squarely in the roadside rear, causing the rig to jackknife and leading to the curbside front damage.

He states it can be repaired for $9500,then someone tell me why the insurance co. would total it and pay out $75,000 for it,sounds me like a line. Dave

I like Jammer's description better than mine. I was imagining someone intentionally struck it with another vehicle, then did the same thing at the other end, scraping along the side at some point.

Whatever the case, it does look like a lot more than $10k to put in good order.

But it is a lovely trailer on the inside though, innit?

Exactly - if there is only 10-20k damage they STILL wouldn't give it a salvage title - this thing has some other damage as well....

That's too much for a salvaged unit.

If it only would cost 9,500 repair it, the insurance would have approved the repairs.

Plus there is no warranty.

I would agree. It just got away from him. I can't tell from the pictures if he has the 1" ball for the anti sway bar.

After thinking about it, this could have been snow or ice related too.

There would be no 1" ball since it had a dual cam setup.

I would bet on a loss of control and hitting a few objects along the way.

We have one in the shop right now getting almost this exact work done, for the same damage. I can assure you it will cost a lot more than the seller says. The parts alone cost us 2x that amount.

If I was considering buying it, I'd pay one of the guys from Oasis R.V. in Tucson to go take a look, they know their stuff.

Sway, then jack knife, sliding toward the opposing lane guard rail striking the rail with the streetside rear corner, swinging around and scraping the guard rail along the streetside as it came to a rest.
