Classic Dinette Table Warping

My table is warping. Lookin at the edge eye level from the kitchen the ends are lower. Can the warped be removed by placing it in the down position and putting some wight while in storage between trips or do I need to take the table to a professional?

You could try placing it on a flat surface with a weight in the middle. It might take some of the curvature out of it but probably not all. After you have done that then you will have to seal the bottom side of the table which I don't think has finish on it. The wood is absorbing moisture and the grain is moving in the direction of its natural curvature. If none of this works, it will have to be planed or sanded to flatten the surface.
It is just one of those natural occurrences if you have it stored in a location subject to high humidity.

Working with wood all the time, that is one of the characteristics of wood. Check to see if the bottom of your table is sealed as well as the top. Once sealed properly the amount of warpage should be minimal. Don't ask me how I know.

If the solid wood table is sitting with sun exposure to the top, it can dry out and shrink that surface more than the bottom and cause warping. Once warped, it doesn't like to return to its original shape.

Time, heat, humidity, and gravity are taking their toll on a laminated wood product. Is it possible to turn it over? The tables aren't really "solid" wood as in one piece- they are several pieces of wood bonded together with an adhesive. The furniture in a Classic is "solid" in the sense that it is not particle board. It is as it was on the tree, just many smaller pieces joined together to make a larger piece.

Thanks. Moved from Texas to Missouri in early 2014. Guess the humidity has affected it. Not sure if the bottom is sealed. I will go back to storage and put the table down and put some weight on the table while in storage. If the warp straightens out then I'll seal the bottom. I need to refinish the top as there are some cloudy spots on it and something has eaten through. Maybe better off taking it to a professional.

Thanks

Kelvin

I could sell you a plywood table laminated with formica that won't warp or stain if you were closer to us. We removed it from our Flying Cloud for a recliner conversion and no longer use it. You could probably get something more durable made at any cabinet shop if unable to fix the original.

Thanks, but my wife loves the hickory finish. We will have to be more careful in the furniture using the table. Probably need to use bigger or more place mats.

Missouri has been rough on my Airstream, warped the table and has buckled my vinyl floor in places.

We live in Phoenix AZ and the table in our 2009 Classic started to warp. So now I take it out and put it in the spare bedroom in our house out of the heat and dry heat of the sun. It does get up to 120 here with about 6% humidity. I also put three five gal bucket of water in the trailer winter and summer to help all that Hickory wood.
