Smile 2010 classic 27

I am interested in purchasing a 2010 Classic 27. What can you tell me about this model airstream? Any certain questions I should be asking the owners? Any known issues?Newbie looking for first airstream.

Thanks

For the 2012 model year and after, Airstream began installing a seal between the body shell and rear bumper storage plate. Prior to that simple seal inclusion, water intrusion through that interface was a huge problem damaging the plywood floors in the rear of many Airstreams, sometimes within a couple of years.

Apparently some Airstreams from that period have not been affected, and some have been sealed by owners to prevent it. Look for wet or rotted plywood under the vinyl subfloor at the rear of the trailer. Hints: The vinyl may be discolored. The screw threads holding the base trim at the rear will be rusty, not shiny and bright, if unscrewed. The floor may be uneven or soft. The subfloor may register wet if probed with a moisture detection meter.

I own a 2010 Classic 27' that has a fiberglass bumper with a drawer under it. When it was made I noticed that the Classic had a lip or bump going along it's length behind the wall of the trailer. This would prevent water from entering and so far mine is still dry.
I don't think the water leak problem was a very big one with the Classic trailers of that year but was a major problem with some of the models that had a metal bumper with a metal cover over it.
