Just under 9 hours from home...
Maybe we could work it in with our annual trip to Texas...
Do you have to leave the trailer and pick it up later?

Sorry for the late post. For the remodel I left the trailer there for 3 months. I've since been back to have more solar installed, waste tank valves replaced, SeeLevel system installed, a cabinet built over the fridge, shelf installed in hall wardrobe, Weboost cellular booster system and cabling installed, and an upgrade to the Truma water heater that allows turning the heater to Eco mode (prevents freezing without using a lot of propane) without going outside to the water heater. For that work we left it there for 5 days and stayed in a motel in Decatur.

Kelvin, what type of drawer latch did you use on your two drawers in your new cabinet under the tv to keep them from opening during travel?

Looks great! Re the third bed - did you extend the pullout section that makes the bed wider or will you be using that third bed ( when needed) without a pullout section?

I'm not sure what the latches are as the are integrated with the sliding mechanisms on each side. So far the drawers have not come out during travel. Contact A&P Vintage Trailer Works.

The pull out shelf is not useable. There is still 6 feet avavable from the cabinet to the end of the dinette. I'm 5' 10" so it's comfortable for me. Taking the back cushions off gives you plenty of width room.

Thanks. I have just built one for our Classic, with only two drawer one for small things like silver ware and the other drop for pots and pans. No more storing them in the oven.

Love the Remodel

We love the remodel of your 25 ft Classic. We are so happy to find your post as we are in the process of doing a remodel on our 27 FB. Initially, we wanted to put a smaller dinette where the lounge is, and a sofa where the dinette sits. However, we could not do that due to where the heater and wheel well are located under the bench sofa. Once that was addressed we also decided to replace one bench with a Lambright wall hugger recliner, leaving the bench sofa in tact. Like you, we wanted to have some extra counter space and your cabinet under the TV is perfect. We are also converting our queen bed to twins as well.

You did a great job with the remodel and appreciate your posting the pictures. It will help in our remodel. We thought the remodel would be less costly than the new Classic 30 we were thinking about. We are at the point where the comfort of the living area needed to be addressed.

All the best,

DBSteed

Has anyone address coving the mole carpet that is glued on the insides of a 2009 Airstream? Ours has become frayed. I sure don’t want to try stripping it off the sheet metal walls. I have thought about coving it with a more lasting wall covering. But what? Any ideas?

The covering is readily available so you could replace it. Tear off a section and use as a template. Use spray on adhesive.

Another solution is what Watsonwanders did.

Great upgrades. The counter built under the TV area is our 2nd favorite mod after the twin beds. We are going to make some further changes to our Airstream in December at A&P.

I made a mistake in getting a Magnum MS1012 inverter charger. The Magnum spec sheet is wrong stating 20amp AC transfer, its actually only 15 amp. Running a small electric heater and the microwave together trips the inverter breaker. Going to switch to a Magnum MS2000 with 30 amp transfer capability. Live and learn I guess. We might purchase some BattleBorn lithium batteries too.

We are thinking about swapping out our Amana stove with a Furrion stove. Paul at A&P has one and says it is a big improvement over the stock gas oven and is better than the Dometic upgrade oven too.

We've been full timing almost a year and so far only minor issues. A&P installed fans in the fridge vent but they stopped working about 6 months ago. The fridge will have to be pulled to trouble shoot.

A small hairline crack has developed in the Corian between the stove and sink over the kitchen drawers. I may get a new Corian counter top as it could be cut to match the new oven/stove cutout. We'll see.

My 5 1/2 year old Michelin 15" 235/75x15 MS2 tires started developing cracks in the sides walls so decided to get 4 new Goodyear Endurance tires in Salt Lake City. I would've like to switch to 16" but getting rims and tires for that size was too difficult to achieve in the time frame. Paul at A&P uses these tires and reports good luck with them. I'll need new truck tires when we winter probably in Texas.
