I am looking at an 06 19' Bambi SE to buy. We have never owned an airstream, but after looking around, feel the 19 would be our best option. I found one for about $20,000. This seemed significantly less than any other 06 SE I could find and am concerned about problems with it. Are some of these lemons? What specific problems would one look for? If stored near the coast, does corrosion become a concern on an 06?

That's about $10K below what it should sell for.......beware of potential problems, scams, etc.

We were thinking of the 16ft.. Do you feel that the combo grey/black is a pain to deal with or just kind-of goes with the territory.. Do you do a lot of boondocking or stay in parks with more facilities.. Sorry if these are "dumb" questions we are just trying to figure this whole thing out as we are newbies to both RV & extended travel.. We are two average size people with one large (84lbs) dog..

I originally wanted a 22CCD, but the unitank nixed the deal. Unless you camp predominately in RV parks with full facilities, your grey tank can be a lifesaver, especially when it is permissable to drain it into the ground. It's just rinse water and shower water. Can't do that with the unitank.
Zimode; from our experience the combined grey/black tank presents no problem. On the 16' Bambi I doubt they could get any more total gal. if the had two tanks. Also many areas no longer allow grey water to be drained on the ground. With the in tank sprayer it is easy to drain the G/B tank and then flush with fresh water. In simple terms - the combined G/B tank is a non issue.
Can't believe that I find myself trying to disagree with the expert Lewster, but our 2005 22' CCD has separate grey and black waste tanks. Possibly some earlier years were not equipped in the same manner.
Both of our tanks are 20 or 22 gallons. For our boondocking expeditions of 3-5 days that leaves extra capacity in the black tank and runs short on the grey tank.

It's not hard to believe that I was fed incorrect information at Bates RV when I was doing the initial research. Unfortunately, a lot of the folks there are not playing with a full deck, and it was before I was a member here.
Just goes to show ya'................stuff is not always what it seems. I still like my 19CCD a lot, and no one is 100% correct all the time....not even me.
We have to agree about the single tank being a non-issue. We would not dump the gray water on the ground even if it were "legal". Why attract insects to the campsite?
A concern we have is about air quality in this small space, particularly after a long cold night in a mostly closed-up trailer. Also, we find it necessary to keep things scrupulously clean - for example, we saute things briefly and never cook with garlic inside. When you visit other RVs, have you ever noticed an odor to the place and wondered if others would have the same reaction to your small space? Wet people coming in from a rain is one issue, a wet dog is another, good luck!
We bought our 16ft Bambi CCD new in 2005, we have really enjoyed it. We have mostly taken it to campgrounds that have full hookups but there have been a few times that we did not have sewer to hook up to in which case, we tried to conserve on water. The combination grey/black tank has been fine. I have to agree that this size of trailer is very easy to pull and manuver. We just bought a larger Airstream however and now it's time to sell the Bambi, we will miss it!!

Sure do hope it is possible- if not we'll give it a run for the money.
