19' Bambi International CCD Deal

I tried to make a deal yesterday on a new 2006 19' Bambi International CCD with the range cover, electric jack, and spare tire. The dealer turned down my offer, said they had more than that in it. I think we were about $7000 apart. The MSRP is $43881 what is a reasonable offer for this.

Thanks,
KC

try this

KC,

Airstreams are somewhat immune to the RV industry average of 25% off list. We bought in So. California and found that 10% off MSRP was typical with the good deals for some models approaching high teens, 18% or 19%.
usually the larger the AS, the bigger discount in terms of both gross and percentage. The rarity and demand in your area will also have an affect on pricing.

Since the Bambi you are looking at is a 2006, and the 2007 models are out, you do have some good leverage. Don't be affraid to go out of your area, after all, it's a travel trailer.

Good luck.

John

Go with another dealer. Colonial Airstream is selling a 2006 CCD for $40,806 before negotiation. I'm sure you could work them or down.

hi kc
welcome to airsteam'n

i agree with westfalia and timemachine.....
u need to do more shopping.....
and think national......IT IS A TRAVEL TRAILER!

from the airstream main portal you can 'find dealers by state'...
doing this will lead to many dealer websites or toll free numbers....

the bambi is a popular size,
but safari se upgrade models are eating ccd sales right now....
so ccd models are sitting on the lots much longer
and should get fair discounts....
2006 is soooooooooooo last year!

don't be discouraged
if a dealer out of your region
only shows the 'msrp list price' for a trailer in inventory......
the dealers have had to sign an agreement
that they will only so 'msrp list' price on their national advertisements for most new units.....

but that doesn't mean they can't sell at much lower prices.....

check out www.airstreamofarkansas.com
they have 3-4 bambis in stock and a 22......
this dealership is very aggressive with national sales
and they are absolutely true to their word....
what they say, they will do!
if they quote a price, they will honor it!

discounts may be as much 20%....or less
but don't forget 'cost' things like
installation of the hitch,
delivery to you
dealer prep fees
or other add on costs.....
that can add up.....

good luck and keep us posted on the purchase!

I took a 16% off deal on a 2006 19' International. The dealer is about 70 miles away, all interstate except 5 miles.

Dealing for an Airstream

Dear Dawgfan-

Try Sanders Airstream in Alachua, Florida (near Gainesville). I bought a brand new '05 Safari 25' FB in June, "06. They offered 22 percent off sticker, and threw in a Prodigy brake controler. I felt like I got a good deal, and they are really nice people at Sanders. Sanders is family owned and operated, and has been there for 35 years. I dealt with the grandson, Jack Sanders.

You can check their inventory on www.airstream.com. I was their several days ago and they had two Bambi 19's on the lot.

Congrats

KC,

Nice.......you took the leap......welcome. As has been posted many times in the forum, take your time during delivery and go over everthing as many times as it takes, it's a lot of money and you deserve the dealer attention. I believe somewhere in the forum threads there is a delivery checklist you can use as a guideline.

I purchased from Sagon RV Superscenter at their Duluth, GA location. I did get an Equilizer hitch with the deal. I could have gotten a better deal in Florida or Arkansas. Both were 8 - 10 drives. Sagon is about 1 hour away. Probably picking up 8-11, I've got to get some wiring work on my truck and I've got McKesh tow mirrors on the way.

Most RV's (including Airstreams) have a dealer margin of 30-33%. You can walk in to almost any dealer and offer a 50-50 split and get 15% off the list price for a trailer on their lot....more if they have had it past the 'interest free' period that the factory gives them. That timing depends on their volume, as does their ultimate discount.

Just like when buying a car, if you are reasonable and the dealer won't budge, your greatest ally is walking out the door and finding another dealer.

Other factors should also be considered, like proximity to your home and the quality of the service department if you plan to use them again for anything that goes wrong with your new trailer.
