As of yesterday I am the happy owner of a new 2006 Quiksilver Bambi.
Well...mostly happy...after it arrived in my driveway I discovered that after all the options had been added the cargo capacity shrunk to 51 lbs. So I have a few questions about GVWR and the CSA version of the 16' bambi.
My Airstream 2006 Int'l CCD manual shows 16' CSA with an extra 800 lbs of GVWR but w the same 215/75R14 (load rating C) tires. The Airstream 2006 Int'l CCD brochure shows the 16' CSA as having a '4300 LB Axel System'. And the Airstream 2006 Safari brochure shows the 16' CSA as having the same 3500 GVWR but as having the 225/215/75R15 Load Rating D tires.
So...does anyone know if:
The CSA rates axels differently than the US and it is the same axel?
Or is the only difference that the CSA version has the better wheels/tires?
Or does the CSA require stronger axel systems than the US on single axel travel trailers and there really is a better axel in the CSA version (that hopefully I could upgrade my US bambi to have).
I think your limiting factors are the tires. I'd get load range D and be happy! I highly doubt that the axles are any different for these two models.
