The last 3 years we've been swamped with our move to our new (1910) house getting things how we want it. Our 63 safari, 8671 has been in use by us quite a bit in the region, but I stumbled on a craigslist ad for a trailer about 45 minutes from us and picked it up for a song, but it was vandalized.
My goal ASAP is to get it dry.
Graffiti has been stripped, for the most part anyway, and the boards are off the windows so I could measure for glass. The interior is unpainted, and in great shape. I've done investigation behind the bathroom, in the cabinets etc and haven't found rotten wood (yet). appliances are complete except maybe a few shelves in the fridge, has a floor furnace and wall furnace. It has an odd unit in the front window with removable plates and some grates for air intake, original TV antenna etc. I need help though.
I'm getting glass cut, but one sash is gone, the one by the main entrance.
HEHR-L 1299 11322 - Anyone have one? I've left a message for silver trailer supply, but getting all the feelers out there.
While I'm looking I'm also looking for an international side emblem. I'm not sure on this door knob, it needs to be gone through, isn't working quite right but appears original.
I'm going to order a new roof vent (probably fantastic fan) for the rear and a astrodome for the front. My goal is to get it weather tight this weekend then start the process of cleaning the interior out and assessing what it needs.
Has an odd step attachment. I think this was well cared for until the last 10 years then sat out and windows were broken recently, thankfully in a desert region where we see very very little rain.
More pictures to follow.

Today was the first day back for me at work, so I had far less time than I wanted to but I did manage to remove all the glazing strips, broken glass and glazing tape from the 8 window frames that need glass that I have. I also figured out I think I can cannibalize a bigger hehr window to have it cut down and made into my missing sash but it's complete and I really hope to find someone with the window I need.
airstreamsupply.com has a repro without the latch clips for $225 but I'd still have to rip apart my window just to get the clips out. They list the official measurement as 21 3/4 Hx 18 5/16W. That will fit inside the opening I have, and gives me a reasonable idea on tolerances if their numbers are indeed correct.
Can any 65 overlander owners with the mid twin confirm that measurement for me? I get one shot at getting it right.
I know it's subjective, but what should I expect to pay for an International Script?
Tomorrow I pick up glass and glazing tape, I have the plastic glazing strips left over, at least enough to get a few windows done. Windows won't get new weatherstrip until later this fall but this baby will leak far less with window glass than it has in awhile.

General comment - have you seen what a 3-D printer can do. Lots of stuff that used to be prohibitively expensive, like re-casting old emblems can now be manufactured (printed) with 3-D technology.
Really exciting stuff. Freaking amazing actually.

Thank you!! Window will be ready tomorrow. Tonight I installed the glazing tape and 8 pieces of glass. Rain on the way this weekend so trying to get it as weather tight as possible
Now I need to get the door handle working. Rusty, can't get the center shaft out due to the rust so I have it soaking in PB Blaster tonight. One screw is broken off in the threads. Anyone had luck reworking this handle or have a good one?

Welcome back! Can't wait to see what you do to this one.... That doorknob is nothing special, replace it IMHO... Haha... Ebay has the L100 /200’s going for $350 and up
Hmmm that antenna...... is it like this? .
I might be willing to trade you a NIB L100 for that antenna finding that dang thing has been my nemesis

Haha as I continue to search and read this was a 1965 lock, only used in 1965. I may see if I can free it up and get a machine shop to free up that broken bolt. My wife loves the antenna but yes I think that's what it looks like up. Ever seen that vent unit in a front window??
I saw a thread that said I could use a Kwikset lock with a 5" offset but unless I'm measuring wrong ours is a 4" offset. I don't think an l-100 or 200 has that big of an offset.
Solve on problem and I find another!

Shelly I'll keep an eye out for another antenna, if that one for some reason comes off it's yours. If you come across the radio whip antenna let me know, I need one, not sure how one could be shipped though.

The whip portion is also readily available . I got mine at radio shack. Search for 102 " stainless whip. Any cb radio place would also have it, also on Amazon.

While I got you, know anyone with an International script? I've got a broken one.
Also it is our first airstream with unpainted grass cloth vinyl walls. Any suggestions on the best cleaner to remove dirt grime and perhaps some nicotine too? Scrubbing coming soon. Weather right now except for the astradome that is on a ups truck somewhere. Welder did an outstanding job cutting down a sash. Just need to secure the clips for the catches.
I picked up a spare hehr roof vent cover from a friend, rebuilt the seized lifters and installed. Also was able to get the step out, although the second step they have on it causes things to bind up so I'm going to carefully remove it. Not sure what it's off of
Anyone need two partial awning mounting brackets? Already clocked my head on one once so they care coming off in short order.

Pretty amazing day! Finished cleaning out our side yard storage area so the Overlander has a parking spot. Hooked it up to 30 amp and univolt works, although the 12v lights blink ever so often. The carrier ac works great, just needs a new interior trim which I ordered today.
All the exterior lights work and the brakes work too.
Quick question. Anyone seen this fabric print before? Wondering if it's original airstream or a redo

The original heater is complete except it's missing the inside grill to cover the heating unit inside the kitchen cabinet. Anyone have one laying around? Not a spot of rust anywhere on the unit.
The floor furnace on the other hand we have no intention of using, but it's definitely a conversation piece. It's cut down through the belly pan. We for sure will never use it, so were trying to decide if we should just remove the gas line for it, cap it, and clean it up as a conversation piece, or should we just rip it out and patch the floor and pan?

Alright knowledge base, I need to find a 3 3/4 offset deadbolt to get this baby secure. I had the lock at a long time trusted locksmith and he was unable to get the Weiser lock back in working order, too many missing and broken pieces that are obsolete. I really don't want to extensively modify the door or install patch plates, the door is otherwise in nearly perfect condition. Anyone know what's out there that is close?
